Yesterday was a two-tour kind of day!

𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 #𝟭: Michelle was back on board! She’s toured with me many times over the years, and this was already her 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻. She just keeps bringing new friends along — one of my favorite compliments. ❤️

𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 #𝟮: We had some locals aboard from Indianwood Lake who have lived here for 𝟮𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀… 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗻! 😳 Now THAT’S the way to do it. Sometimes the best adventures are right in your own backyard.

And just when I thought the day was over, Lake Orion put on the most spectacular sunset for my drive home. 🌅

Tonight’s tour is off since we didn’t get any sign-ups — 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄!

Tonight’s crew was the perfect mix of familiar faces and first-timers! Some were even back for their 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 — and I’m still managing to surprise them with new stories, photos and materials I keep pulling out of my captain’s hat. 🎩😂

The skies were a little moody, but the rain held off and Lake Orion put on quite a show for us. 🌤️

And just a reminder… 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗘𝗥 𝗜𝗦 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥! ☀️🚤

This weekend is looking 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗙𝗨𝗟 —- and somehow I still have an empty boat. Let’s fix that!

📖 𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞’𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡’𝗦 𝗟𝗢𝗚 — 𝗔 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗦!

𝟴/𝟮𝟲/𝟮𝟲: My new BFF 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝘀 was back on board — just a few weeks after taking his first tour! 😂 This time, he arrived with some amazing vintage Dittrich advertisements that he gave me to add to my collection and share on future tours.

He also brought along a group of friends who used to live on the lake, which is ALWAYS fun for me. At that point, it becomes less of me giving a history tour and more of everyone swapping first-hand stories and filling in the blanks!

We also had a local realtor aboard who lived on the lake, so naturally the ride ran a little long. Between the history, old lake stories, and a little 𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗗 𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘, 𝗪𝗛𝗢 𝗢𝗪𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗨𝗦𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 — we had a lot to talk about. 😂

𝟴/𝟮𝟳/𝟮𝟲: This one was just FUN. Half the boat was filled with customers, and the other half was my neighbors, friends visiting all the way from Texas… and even my husband!

For those who don’t know, my husband has been 𝘂𝗻𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 from Tour on Orion for years. 😂 Not because he misbehaves — but because he tends to become the 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗼-𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁, adding his own version of the tour, a little lake gossip, and occasionally talking over the actual tour guide. 🤣

But this time around, he was on his best behavior and actually let me give the tour. 😂

A cool, calm evening with perfectly moody weather on Lake Orion!

I had a group of 9 friends aboard, along with 4 ladies from Rochester — which I have to mention because I almost NEVER get guests from Rochester! 😂

And the fishermen were EVERYWHERE! 🎣😂 I don’t know if there’s a tournament happening or what, but they somehow managed to be in my tour route at nearly every turn. Captain Riva got in a little extra navigating!

🍪 And can we talk about THESE cookies?! To the lady who made the butterscotch & chocolate chip cookies — PLEASE send me the recipe! 😂 I’m still thinking about them.

Three tours… and three VERY different adventures on Lake Orion! 😂

A SOLD OUT Open-Seated Tour with plenty of entertainment along the way!
We had some local kids showing off and doing flips on their stand-up Jet Skis — and then we spotted something I haven’t seen on the lake in forever… a vintage Kawasaki Jet Mate!
Orion Marine was actually a Kawasaki dealer back in the day, and I remember we had a Jet Mate for a summer. My brother, sister and I were so little that all three of us could fit across that back seat! 😂 Seeing one out on Lake Orion definitely brought back some memories.

Private Tour for the Hamm family! 💙
We’ve been friends for going on 20 years, and somehow this was their FIRST time taking my tour! Honestly, I’m kind of glad they waited because my new history books are my best work yet.
Their parents moved to Orion Township in 1970, so they had plenty of their own Lake Orion memories to add. They even remembered all the drama surrounding the canals being developed and the draining of two nearby lakes — a piece of local history that comes up on my tours more often than you might think!
I only wish Connie were still around so I could interview her about it. From everything I’ve heard, she was quite a force to be reckoned with — and let’s just say, township rules weren’t always her biggest concern. 😂 I would have LOVED to hear her side of the story!
⛈️ 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 • 𝟴/𝟮𝟯
Private Tour #2… well, almost. 😂
We made it about 10 minutes into our ride, turned the corner and suddenly the sky was DARK.
Captain’s decision: TURN AROUND! 🚤💨
We headed straight back to the park and rescheduled. I got everyone safely unloaded, hustled home, pulled the very last suitcase off the boat…
…and it started POURING. 🌧️😂
Sometimes you just have to trust the sky — and your Captain!
Three tours. A little nostalgia, a LOT of Lake Orion history, old friends, Jet Skis, and one perfectly timed escape from a storm.
