We purchased our first house many years ago with the intention of drawing everyone in our big, modern, family together. And so they did, and do! Our children & grandchildren, sisters & brothers, parents, friends and friends-of-friends... you need a Venn Diagram, family tree, and a few high school yearbooks to properly explain the fun that has been had. We started with the purchase of our classic 1905 "grand dame", steeped in Lake Placid Olympic history and conveniently located a half block off Main Street. Aptly named Mirror Lake Manor, it is three floors of meandering rooms connected by a formidable staircase, filled with beautiful, dark wood, and fully furnished for your comfort, yet firmly connected to the spirit of the Manor's magnificence. The recently restored front verandah overlooking Main Street, Mirror Lake, and the mountains is incomparable. Immediately following, was the purchase of the elegant and sprawling Casa Blanca, where sunlight and mountain views bounce off the reflection of the custom designed chandelier dripping in crystals, and the cool breeze carries the laughter from one wing of the house to the other. It was love at first sight and Casa Blanca became our family compound where the chef's kitchen is filled with food, kids, cooking and lots and lots of eating. The hot tub never stays empty for long, and like out of a movie, baseball games get serious on the front lawn and the night's bonfire is always the topic of discussion. We continued to enjoy all the activities, events, shops and restaurants in and around Lake Placid, but sometimes we never the house content to sit, chat and relax. The constant, though, was our continued interest in Lake Placid real estate, and the obsession fueled the creation of Lake Placid Vacation Rentals, now known as Stay ADK.
