Shawn reached out for a weekend Walleye charter with Laura and Brantley. The shute was a bit sloppy as we left West Harbor this afternoon. We headed North of the roller coasters and set out our morning program.

It didn’t take long to get things rolling… Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50 with jointed Flicker Shad 33 and 43 back were 🔥.

BADMO LURES Arrowhead Spoon on a #3 Dipsey 36 and 42 back were solid producers.

Reef Runner Tackle Company Deep Lil Rippers and Berkley Fishing Deep Hitstick 9 at 70 to 90 back with 2 oz guppy weights.

🎄 Christmas Charter Day 2 – BlackH2oDog Charters 🎣

Met Ralph and Jeff on the dock at 6am and we back SE of KI where we left them yesterday.

It didn’t take long to get things rolling… Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50 with jointed Flicker Shad 33 and 43 back were 🔥.

🎄 Christmas Charter Recap – BlackH2oDog Charters 🎣

For Christmas, Betty gave an awesome gift—booking a two-day charter for her husband Ralph and their buddy Jeff. After a 6-hour wind delay, we finally got the green light and left West Harbor, heading east of the islands.

It didn’t take long to get things rolling…
A BADMO LURES Arrowhead Spoon went back on a #3 Dipsey 42 back and was instantly firing as it was set in the rod holder! As I was attaching the first Off Shore Tackle Company OR-12 planer board it was clear the attachung a board.was not necessary as it had a Walleye. At the same time, another dipsey rod buried with a solid eater-sized. Walleye on a Berkley Fishing Deep Hitstick 9 at 32/32 back.

From there, it was controlled chaos—in the best way possible. It took a little work, but we got all three boards per side dialed in just as we were wrapping up our first ticket.

- Corners: Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50s pulling fish at 33 and 38 back

I was so busy netting fish, resetting lines, and keeping the crew rolling that I unfortunately missed snapping action shots—but trust me… it was nonstop!

We had their fish, on the downhill and troughed Southward to finish mine and nine more as we put the gear away.

Great first day with this Cincinnati crew—looking forward to getting back after them on Day 2 👊🐟

🔥 Midweek check-in!

The walleye bite is HOT right now and we’re getting dialed in for another full weekend on Lake Erie.

We’ve been running our Off Shore Tackle Company boards with Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrips on the corners and have a dialed-in trolling program, and the results have been consistent—active fish, solid limits, and rods firing. This is what peak season is all about. 🎯

We are fish nearshore within 2 miles of the mainland or islands. Every bait is catching speeds have been 2.0 to 2.3.mph

Occupational 🎣 hazard update… 😅

Took a fin straight into the fingertip about 3 weeks ago — figured it was just gonna be one of those “walk it off, you’ll be fine” deals.

Nope. Felt like I had a sewing needle 🪡 buried in there the whole time and couldn’t dig it out.

Well… today it finally worked its way free and popped out. Sweet relief! 🙌

Moral of the story: the fish aren’t the only ones bringing sharp gear to the fight.

Stay scrappy out there… and maybe keep a little extra respect for those fins 😎🎣

BlackH2oDog Charters Fishing Report 🎣

Kerry booked an afternoon Walleye charter to celebrate his grandson Aiden's graduation from the University of Cincinnati—great way to mark the occasion!

We left West Harbor and headed east of the islands. With a mid-afternoon start and storms building, we had just enough time to dial in a program—and it paid off with a full limit of Walleye before the weather moved in.

Our Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50s paired with BADMO LURES Arrowhead spoons (set 43’ and 48’ back) started producing Walleye right away, even before our board lines hit the water.

We set out Off Shore Tackle Company OR-12 inline planer boards running Berkley Fishing Deep Hitstick 9s, weighted with 2 oz Guppy weights:
- One side: 40/40 & 50/50
- Other side: 30/30 & 35/35

Hot 🔥 colors included Gold, Flashy Pearl, and my own custom ErieDescent pattern.

The action stayed steady—just fast enough to keep things interesting without turning into chaos. At we called our.outing a fishing success , 5 of 6 boards dropped back with Walleye on—great way to wrap it up!

As we cleared the down rods, the skies finally let loose with heavy 🌧. Thanks to our Raymarine USA Doppler radar, we were able to ride the north edge of the front and stay just ahead of the worst of it, with 🌦 off our starboard side.

Fast action meant not many pictures—but plenty of memories. Awesome crew, and a great day on the water!
