Shimmering Seas Travel recently had the chance to visit the historical Grand Galvez Resort in Galveston. There's something special about this place—the elegance, the history, the way it feels like stepping back in time while still being completely comfortable.

If you're planning a cruise out of Galveston, this hotel is worth considering for a night or two before or after your voyage. The beachfront location is perfect for easing into vacation mode. Plus, being right there on the beach means you can actually relax instead of rushing around.
