Happy National Donut day! 🍩

But let's talk about a different take on the traditional donut... Malasadas! 😋

Mala…what? Mah-lah-sah-dahs! 😍
If you want to try something unique, this is definitely a must try.

What is a Malasada? 🤔

It’s a Portuguese donut with a sugar coating (see photo). Some have filling and some do not. Common fillings are vanilla custard, chocolate, haupia (coconut), or even Guava, Taro, and other tropical fruit flavors. Some places will also mix the sugar coating with Li Hing Mui powder which a tart but sweet plum powder that’s very popular in Hawaii.

Most people picture Maui as golden sand and turquoise water… but Maui has a beach with red sand too. ❤️🌊

Many travelers that come to Maui make time for the beautiful road trip out to Hana. Koki Beach is one of those Road to Hāna stops that makes you pull over and just stare for a minute. 😍

The deep red shoreline comes from the iron-rich volcanic cinder in the area, giving it a color you don’t see often.

If you’re driving the Road to Hāna, this is one of those “slow down and take it in” moments that’s worth the stop. Have you ever seen a red sand beach before? 👀

One of my favorite ways to explore a destination? E-bike tours. 🚲

You cover more ground than walking, can usually go places buses can’t, and still get that “we found this ourselves” feeling. We’ve seen travelers use them to explore coastal towns, historic streets, vineyards, and hidden corners they may have missed otherwise.

Plus, let’s be honest… hills feel a lot friendlier with a little electric help. 😅

This travel tip can save you a lot of headaches later. ✅

When you get the keys to your car rental. Walk around the car and photograph every scratch, dent, and scuff before leaving the lot.

Email them to yourself so they're time-stamped. This has saved countless travelers from being charged for pre-existing damage.
