“Strangers wave at you from their porches in this Minnesota town and it does not feel weird at all.”

That’s how My Family Travels opens its feature on Lanesboro, and honestly, we couldn’t love it more. 💛

The article captures so much of what makes a day here feel special: friendly faces, a walkable downtown, local shops, the Root River running through town, trails for biking and walking, and bluffs that make the whole place feel like a painting.

Give it a read, then come spend a day (or longer) in Lanesboro and see why it feels like something special.

Strangers wave, shops welcome you, and smiles are everywhere. One day in Minnesota's friendliest town and you'll plan return trips.

You’ll find this peaceful little scene at the Bass Pond parking lot, also known as the Poetry Parking Lot, just off County Road 8 on the west side of town.

Did you know Lanesboro has two Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations, each with two ports? ⚡🚗

You’ll find them conveniently located in the Bass Pond parking lot off County Road 8, also known as the Poetry Parking Lot. While your vehicle charges, stretch your legs on the wonderful walking path that takes you under the County Road 8 bridge, through scenic Gateway Park, and across the historic Coffee Street Bridge right into downtown Lanesboro.

Charge up, walk in, and enjoy all that downtown has to offer!

It’s an absolutely perfect day to be in Lanesboro soaking up the sun and fun at the 2026 Rhubarb Festival! ☀️🌿

The festivities go until 2 p.m., so you’ve still got time to experience all the quirky rhubarb fun in Sylvan Park.

After that, head downtown for lunch and shopping, hit the trail, catch a theatre show, grab a treat, and make a full day of it in Lanesboro!
