🛳️The single best thing you can do for a cruise? Fly in the day before.

Ships don't wait. If your flight is delayed or cancelled on embarkation morning, there's no later sailing that day — you're chasing the ship to its first port, if you can catch it at all.

Coming in a day early buys you:

✅A buffer against delays, cancellations, and lost luggage
✅A decent night's sleep instead of a 4 a.m. airport sprint
✅Time to actually enjoy the port city — a good dinner beats a terminal food court

Yes, it's one hotel night. It's also the cheapest travel insurance you'll ever buy, and it's the advice I give every single client.

✈️ Travel tip that catches people off guard:

🛂Many countries won't let you in if your passport expires within 6 months of your trip — even if it's technically still valid. Airlines can deny boarding over it, too.

Before you book anything, do these three quick checks:

1. **Look at your expiration date.** If it's within 9 months of your trip, start the renewal now — processing takes weeks, and you don't want to be rushing it.

2. **Check the kids' passports too.** Children's passports are only valid for 5 years, not 10, and they sneak up on you.

3. **Make sure the name on your
booking matches your passport exactly.** Even a missing middle name or a nickname can cause problems at check-in.

Two minutes of checking now saves a ruined trip later. If you ever want a second set of eyes on your documents before you travel, I'm happy to look.
