The beauty of Carmel, CA. With Monterey Pines and Cyprus trees adorning its stunning beach, you can practically smell the fresh pine air from the photos!

The gateway to Big Sur from the north, Carmel, along with its impossibly charming homes and picture-perfect town, is a must-see when in Northern Cali.

KIAWAH ISLAND at The Sanctuary. Just returned from a girls tennis trip at this hotel, which has 21 tennis courts 🎾 🤩. We had an excellent pro and did drills for 3 hours each morning and then relaxed by the ocean and/or pool in the afternoons.

The set-up is perfect for this kind of trip, or guys’ golf trips too, as the island has amazing golf. Also really great for families. The service was spot on, the food great, and the ease of having beach, family pool and adults-only pool made the stay seamless.

I should note there are a ton of other activities to do as well - miles and miles of biking and running paths, 10 mile beach, kayaking, fun shopping, great restaurants, all made this a super getaway (and less than 2 hours from NY).

Machu Picchu has long been on my bucket list, and it was everything and more. Perched high in a secluded mountain range, this lost city leaves you totally in awe of the Inca civilization.

From the spectacular train ride to the town of Machu Picchu (formerly Aguas Calientes), and then on up into the mystical rainforest, the experience is one like no other!

Day 1 in the Sacred Valley, Peru. We first visited the salt mines in the town of Maras, with the Urubamba mountain range as the backdrop, seen in first photo. Absolutely incredible! There are 5,000 salt mines here. We saw the miners in action and tasted the salt afterwards.

Next we walked around the agricultural terraces of Moray, where the Incas mastered the art of growing crops in microclimates. THIS is why Peruvian food may be the best on the planet.

We drove around villages, stopped at viewpoints, and ended with a picnic under a tent with a view of the mountains.

Peru is stunning 🇵🇪

BELIZE. As I’m reviewing March itineraries, I realize I have a lot of people traveling to Belize! It’s no wonder, as this diverse country with a mix of cultures, languages, and activities makes it a fascinating place to visit.

I have clients staying in the mountains, then the beach; some just the beach, and some are staying in the islands. Belize is known for having some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world - but it is equally popular for its jungle and mountain experiences.

The Mayan cave world (the “underworld”), where you can go cave tubing and kayaking, is in the mountains. So are the Mayan ruins - some of the most important ruins to explore. Hiking, waterfall swimming, and ziplining, are some other activities.

The photo above is from my family vacation to Belize. We did a split stay between the mountains and the beach, and we loved it. Like Costa Rica, it’s getting popular, so book it before it explodes! Message me.

AMALFI COAST. One of the most mesmerizing and romantic places in the world. How I love this breathtaking part of Italy.

I learned about Palazzo Avino - located in the clifftop village of Ravello - in a recent partner meeting. Absolutely stunning, this 12th century private villa converted into modern day hotel, is the perfect couples retreat.

JAPAN. Clients will be staying at this beautifully restored ryokan (Japanese guesthouse) in Kyoto called Sowaka - a boutique hotel of 23 rooms, lush courtyards, and a mix of ancient and modern detail. Think paper sliding doors, handmade cedar speakers, serene spaces.

They will be visiting Tokyo and Osaka as well and I have food tours, city tours, Geisha tour, and market tours all lined up for them.

HIKE. Piton viewing. What I love about St. Lucia is how adventurous it is. It’s mountainous landscape and lush rainforest is a backyard playground.

Hiking, nature trails, jungle exploring, hot springs, mud baths, zip lining and all of the water sports of course, make this island both adventurous and relaxing. Your pick.

GRENADA. This Caribbean island is getting more and more attention for its unspoilt beauty, pristine beaches, adventurous rainforest/ jungle, and good food.

Activities include of course water sports, snorkeling through an underwater sculpture park, jungle hikes, waterfall jumping, chocolate and nutmeg tours, catamaran rides and more.

Corey’s Travel Background

Corey joined Elli Travel in 2020. She has worked in the travel business for the majority of her career, including her current undertaking as the owner of Fifi + Hop, a travel blog dedicated to travel guides, tips and reviews. From a young age, travel has always been a big part of Corey’s life; yet it was a particular summer in Greece as a teenager that hooked her. From there she went on to live in Spain, Costa Rica, and Chile on various study and work abroad programs.

After working in San Francisco as an event planner in her post college years, Corey moved to New York City in 2001, where she worked at the Museum of Modern Art, and planned global trips to art biennials and events for The Contemporary Arts Council, a high-level donor membership group. The itineraries included organized visits to art events, museums, private collections, artists’ studios, hotel stays, restaurants, and bus transfers. Places visited included Istanbul, Cuba, Switzerland, China, Amsterdam, Ireland, Marfa, TX, Santa Fe, NM and more. Additionally, she planned local weekly events in New York.

Fast forward to now, living with her family in Westchester, NY, Corey is excited to use her travel planning and travel website skills as a travel advisor. She loves to research places, to experience them, to tell all about them, and to help people with their travel plans; she gets no greater satisfaction than of being a valuable resource and providing people with excellent, personalized service.
