Carnival Freedom is currently in dry dock in Marseille, France. The most visible change happening is she’s finally getting her iconic “whale tail” funnel restored after losing it twice, once to a fire (2022) and then to a lightning strike (2024).

Videos from the shipyard show the old straight funnel being lifted off by crane while the brand-new winged fins sit ready on the dock. Once the top section is refreshed and the classic wings are bolted on, Freedom will once again look like a proper Carnival ship.

She’s also picking up the new “From Sea to Shining Sea” bow crest that’s rolling out across the fleet.

She dry-dock around September 1 and is scheduled to return to service in early October 2026 with a short Med cruise from Barcelona, then a transatlantic to Port Canaveral with her shiny new tail. 🐋❤️
