Glenn and I are taking you to a city that holds a deeply special place in our hearts: Athens, Greece. As a full-time wheelchair user who prioritizes travel with wheelchair accessibility, I was thrilled to discover that today's Athens offers a level of thoughtful design making it possible to explore 2,500 year old history with total ease.

Why Athens Shines for Accessible Luxury Travelers
Hotels That Redefine Comfort: We love properties that make luxury inclusive. You can stay right in the center at the historic Hotel Grande Bretagne with its seamless elevator access to their famous rooftop, or enjoy the remarkably spacious, barrier-free layouts at the food-centric Ergon House Athens. If you want a resort feel, the Four Seasons Astir Palace on the Riviera is incredible, featuring smooth ramps connecting every pool and restaurant.

Historic Meets Modern: The ancient sites are more welcoming than ever. We highly recommend using the dedicated accessible elevator on the Acropolis North Slope. Standing in front of the Parthenon is breathtaking, and booking a private guide makes the authorization logistics invisible so you can simply take in the view.

Accessible Cultural Experiences: The Acropolis Museum is a brilliant example of inclusive design, fully ramped with glass floors that let you view the excavations right beneath your wheels. We also loved spending an afternoon at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, which is completely barrier-free and effortless to navigate.

Getting Around Made Easy
The Athens Metro is a fantastic option. It is clean, modern, and features elevators and level boarding at most major stations.

For complete peace of mind on airport runs or trips out to Cape Sounion, we always book a private car. It removes the stress of luggage and navigating unfamiliar streets.

While the modern areas are smooth, historic neighborhoods like the Plaka do have some uneven cobblestones, but not as bad as some other European cities. We quickly learned that where the pavement falls short, the famous Greek hospitality steps in. Locals and staff are incredibly kind and always ready to help.

Traveler Tips
Plan your visit for the fall or spring. You will avoid the punishing summer heat and enjoy perfect exploring temperatures.

The Greeks eat late! If you show up for dinner at 7:00 PM, you will likely be the only ones there. Head to Tudor Hall or Liondi around 9:00 PM for the best atmosphere.

Pick up a bottle of Mastiha at the airport duty free before you fly home. This sweet, pine-infused liqueur became our absolute favorite after dinner ritual.

Athens is a vibrant city that truly rewards insider knowledge, and it promises a getaway that feels both sophisticated and deeply welcoming.

Athens is the perfect example of how thoughtful planning can turn a historic, challenging city into an effortless luxury escape. What is your favorite accessible European city? Drop your recommendations in the comments so we can add them to our radar! Or, if you are ready to enjoy all that Athens has to offer contact us at Fora to help you plan your trip.

5 Cruises, 1 Year: Our 2025 Recap

If you think cruising isn’t for you, our 2025 season proves there is a ship for every personality. With over 300 ocean ships and endless destinations, the variety is staggering. You simply cannot get bored if you match the ship and destination to your interests. This doesn’t even account for the rapidly growing river cruise industry, which is adding new ships to waterways worldwide every year.

Here are the five distinct experiences we had this year:

1. Explora I (Explora Journeys): This feels like a modern luxury hotel at sea. It offers a cosmopolitan atmosphere and spacious suites for those who prioritize understated elegance.
Best for: Travelers seeking a high-end land resort feel on the water.

2. Oceania Vista: A luxury experience centered on the finest cuisine at sea. It is upscale yet comfortable, focusing on culinary excellence and beautiful design.
Best for: Food enthusiasts and those who prefer a sophisticated, mid-sized ship.

3. Disney Destiny: This brand-new ship is a masterclass in storytelling. Beyond families, it is perfect for adults who value high-production entertainment and themed immersive venues.

Best for: Disney fans and all fans of immersive environments and top-tier performances.

4. Virgin Valiant Lady: An adults-only, premium playground that ditches buffets and formal nights for wellness, incredible restaurants, and a modern social scene.
Best for: Couples, solos, or friends wanting a high-energy, kid-free getaway.

5. Norwegian Aqua: The newest innovation in mainline cruising. It offers the ultimate variety in dining and activities, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Best for: Travelers who want endless choices and a lively atmosphere.

It is currently Wave Season, the best time of year to book. Cruise lines are currently offering their most competitive rates and incentives for the 2026 season. Let us know if you have any questions or are interested in sailing somewhere on something in 2026.

Hi there! We’re Judy and Glenn, and we sincerely believe the best things in life aren’t things, they’re memories made together.

If you’re new here, we wanted to pull back the curtain on TudorTravels. Since this is a pinned post, consider this our digital front door!

Expertise Born from Experience
We don’t just plan trips; we live them. We have explored over 60 countries (most of them multiple times) and embarked on over 30 cruises and we aren’t stopping anytime soon. We travel extensively year-round to ensure we have authentic, fresh knowledge of the world’s best destinations, hotels, and ships.

The TudorTravels Difference. Obsessive detail matched with first-hand insight.

Our planning process is uniquely rigorous. Judy travels in a wheelchair, which means “accessible” can’t just be a checkbox, it has to be a reality. This has made us experts in the fine print. We vet every hotel room, elevator, and transport link with a level of scrutiny most people overlook.

Whether you have mobility challenges or you simply want a perfectly executed, stress-free vacation, our fanatical attention to detail ensures that your trip is seamless from start to finish.

A Bit About Us
Before becoming travel advisors, we spent decades in service: Judy in family services (overseeing adoptions and foster care) and Glenn in hospitality and convention technology. If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s that time moves fast and experiences with the people we love are the best investment we can make.

What We Love
For us, travel is about food, culture, and connection. From Michelin-starred dining to the best local street food, we often let our taste buds lead the way. We’ve made lifelong friends across the globe, and there is nothing we love more than sitting outside with a drink, watching a different way of life happen right in front of us.

Ready to start building your next great memory?
Head to the link in our bio to visit our website, learn more about our process, and get started on your next journey. We can’t wait to meet you!

Plot twist: we spent over 20 days in 2025 on en route to somewhere and we loved it!

Here’s our philosophy: the trip begins the moment you leave your house, not just when you land. The flight sets the tone for the entire journey, which is why we’re obsessed with flying the flag carriers of the countries we’re visiting. Want to understand Japanese hospitality before you arrive? Fly ANA. Want to settle into the vibe of Turkey? Turkish Airlines starts the experience at the boarding gate.

This year was another dive into world-class service. We flew business class on Turkish, Singapore, Etihad, Qatar, and ANA, and experienced Emirates in first class. In total, we (mostly together but a quarter of the flights was just one of us) covered 212,000+ miles across 106 flights and 33 airports. And yes, if you look closely, Judy is wearing the same travel outfit in half these photos, comfort is the only way to survive that many long-haul flights! 😉

Now for the reality check: As you can see in that last photo, a full third of our flights were delayed this year. That’s nearly an entire day of 2025 spent sitting in airports.

It’s never fun, but it’s the reality of modern travel. This is exactly why thoughtful planning and built-in flexibility matter. Delays happen and connections get missed; you need a strategy and a solid backup plan before you ever leave home.

That’s where we come in. We don’t just design your itinerary or book the best hotels, we’re there for when things inevitably go sideways. When you book with us, you have someone in your corner who knows exactly how to handle the “plot twists” because we’ve navigated them all ourselves.

Looking back on 2025, the best part was definitely the people we shared it with.

We’ve had some great experiences on the road this year but it was just as meaningful to see so many of you finally get to the destinations you’ve been dreaming about. Seeing those plans come to life is really the best part of what we do. Being even a small part of your milestones, honeymoons, family reunions, and “just because” escapes is a huge privilege for us.

As lifelong travel junkies ourselves, it’s hard to put into words how gratifying it’s been helping you reach those bucket-list spots. We’ve loved every photo, every story, and every “you won’t believe this view” text. Thank you for letting us partake vicariously in your adventures!

Of course, none of these moments happen in a vacuum. To our incredible partners across the travel industry: thank you for everything you do behind the scenes. You really are the heartbeat of this business, and your collaboration is what allows us to turn a ‘what if’ into a reality for our clients. We’re so lucky to have you in our corner.

New year, same favorite people, we can’t wait for all the 2026 adventures ahead!

Cake Bake at Disney World, dressed to the nines for Christmas. Plot twist: you can actually eat a delicious, fresh salad here, who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too? 😉

Because luxury travel is all about balance: greens AND sprinkles, wellness AND indulgence. (And we’ll be honest, we had a huge slice of coconut cake.)

Think gourmet dining and Disney don’t belong in the same sentence? Think again.

Hidden within Epcot’s Japan Pavilion, Takumi-Tei is the kind of culinary secret that could change how you see Disney travel. This isn’t your typical theme park meal, it’s an authentic omakase experience that honors the artistry of Japanese cuisine in every single detail.

Seasonal ingredients transformed with techniques passed down through generations. Plating so beautiful you almost don’t want to take the first bite. And delicious food that was shockingly simple. This is the same meticulous Japanese craftsmanship that has made Tokyo the most Michelin-starred city on the planet. Yes, more than anywhere in Europe.

We believe every destination has something for every traveler, it’s just about knowing where to look. A foodie who thinks Disney isn’t your vibe? Consider this: Disney World even has a Michelin-starred restaurant at one of their hotels.

Whether you travel for culinary adventures, cultural experiences, or pure magic, there’s always a way to craft the trip that feels authentically YOU. Takumi-Tei is proof that luxury and discovery can happen anywhere, even where you least expect it.

Whether you’re dreaming of Disney magic, authentic experiences in Japan, or discovering hidden gems in between anywhere in the world, let us design the perfect journey for you.

International Business vs. First Class: What’s the Real Difference?

Thinking of splurging on your next international flight? Note that we are strictly comparing long-haul, intercontinental travel. The cabin labeled “First Class” on domestic US flights is merely an equivalent to international Premium Economy, not true premium travel.

The core difference between international Business and First Class boils down to space, service, and exclusivity.

International Business Class is the gold standard for premium travel. It offers a fully lie-flat bed (the essential upgrade), direct aisle access, restaurant-quality multi-course dining on fine china, and priority ground services including great airline lounge access. Business Class provides everything needed for a restful, productive flight.

First Class, conversely, is the ultimate luxury experience. Instead of a standard lie-flat seat, passengers receive a private suite or pod, often with a tall door, offering maximum seclusion and generous space. Dining moves to an ultra-premium, customized à la carte menu with “dine-when-you-want” flexibility, supported by unmatched, nearly one-to-one personalized service. The exclusivity extends to the ground, offering private First Class Lounges, chauffeured transfers, and discreet check-in.

Is the price worth it? The line is blurring due to innovation. Many airlines now offer new Business Class products (with doors) that rival the aging First Class cabins of competitors. In fact, some new Business Class seats are definitively better than older First Class. This trend is why First Class is being eliminated by many major airlines; for example, no major US-based airlines and many European carriers offer a dedicated international First Class cabin anymore. But for those who value unparalleled privacy and bespoke service, First Class remains an unforgettable travel indulgence.

The best places deserve repeat visits.

This was our third visit in the last 10 years to the Grand Palace, and the gold still gleams just as bright. This time we brought friends along and watching them take in the soaring spires and intricate mosaics for the first time reminded us exactly why this keeps making our Bangkok itinerary.

Afterward, we discovered what might become our new tradition: kanom krok from a street vendor near the palace. These tiny coconut pancakes, crispy on the outside and impossibly creamy within, were a first for us and now we understand why locals queue up for them. Consider this your tip on what to try in Bangkok.

11/23/2025

Is this a sci-fi movie or AI-generated? Nope, just the Chao Phraya River after dark.

When the sun sets over Bangkok, the river transforms into something out of Blade Runner. Ferries and longtail boats light up like neon vessels, turning the water into a glowing highway that feels more futuristic than functional. Then dawn breaks, and you see it for what it really is, Bangkok’s working river, shuttling commuters and cargo through the heart of the city.

Same stretch of water, same boats, two completely different worlds. That’s the magic of Bangkok: ancient and ultra-modern, colliding in the most unexpected ways.

Every great journey starts with a single “what if?” What if you could watch this river transform in real time, from your own hotel balcony or a riverside terrace? Let’s make it happen. Send us a message and we’ll start planning.

What improves a 17-hour flight in business class on one of the best airlines in the world?

Taking it with some of your favorite people!

We just left San Francisco on Singapore Airlines, heading to Bangkok via Singapore. This is everyone else’s first time going to Thailand and their first-timer energy is already making this trip special.

And Singapore Airlines? They consistently get it right. It’s the kind of experience that makes 17 hours over the Pacific feel less like an endurance marathon and more like the journey itself matters. It doesn’t hurt that the onboard dining is really good as well.

We’ll be back soon at Changi Airport’s fantastic business class lounge before our final leg to Bangkok.

Stories will have the real-time updates so follow along!

What hotel helped create one of the world’s most iconic luxury hotel brands?

HINT: They just landed at #7 on The World’s 50 Best Hotels.

Mandarin Oriental Bangkok has been defining luxury hospitality since 1876. Originally called “The Oriental,” it merged with “The Mandarin” in Hong Kong in 1985 to form what’s now one of the world’s most prestigious luxury hotel brands.

Our recently remodeled room was spacious, beautifully designed with contemporary Thai touches, and had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the river. Everything felt both timeless and modern at once.

The location on the Chao Phraya is unbeatable. From the room and the pool, we could see the Peninsula Bangkok across the river, another favorite hotel of ours (we will be staying there next week).

We had dinner at Le Normandie by Alain Roux, their Michelin-starred French restaurant, and it was genuinely one of the best dining experiences we’ve had anywhere. We did the seven-course tasting menu with wine pairing, and every course was impeccably executed. The views of the river at night from the top floor were gorgeous (the photo does not do it justice).

The property is also home to Kinu by Takagi, an intimate 10-seat kaiseki restaurant led by Chef Takagi Kazuo from the two-Michelin-starred Kyoto Cuisine Takagi in Japan.

Like Raffles Singapore, the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok is one of those rare hotels that lives up to its legendary reputation. Classic elegance that never feels dated where you can feel the history.
