Travel Tip Tuesdays: Navigating Europe’s New EES Border System!

The European Union’s Entry/Exit System (EES) is now active across Schengen destinations like France, Italy, Spain, Greece, and Germany.

Having navigated this firsthand at airport border control in Barcelona earlier this year, I can share that the transition is straightforward when you know what to expect!

What to expect at border control:
- Scan your passport at the kiosk.
- Complete a quick facial scan and fingerprint registration.
- Your details are saved securely for future visits!

There’s nothing you need to do in advance, but you may notice slightly longer wait times at passport control. I always recommend allowing a bit of extra time upon arrival and making sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your return date.

(Note: Non-Schengen destinations like the UK and Ireland are not part of this system and will continue with their standard entry procedures.)
