Pioche Town’s famous “Million Dollar Courthouse” started as a modest project but ballooned into one of Nevada’s most legendary financial sagas. Decades later, the beautifully restored 1872 landmark now welcomes visitors as a museum filled with local history.

Ever seen a sage-grouse put on a show? Each spring, males gather on special mating grounds called leks, where they inflate yellow air sacs in their chests and strut their stuff to attract females.

By surveying these leks each year, the Conservation Science team at Walker Basin Conservancy tracks population trends and helps guide efforts to protect this iconic species and its habitat for generations to come. 🪶
