I loved my trip to Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. Here's a story. Bruce Oliver
Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way is a stunning coastal route that stretches for over 1500 miles along the west coast of Ireland. From the rugged cliffs of County Donegal to the rolling hills of County Cork, the Wild Atlantic Way offers visitors a chance to experience the beauty and diversity of Ireland's Atlantic coast.
The route begins in County Donegal in the north and winds its way south through County Sligo, County Mayo, County Galway, County Clare, County Limerick, County Kerry, and County Cork. Along the way, visitors can experience a variety of landscapes, from the rugged cliffs and rocky islands of the north to the sandy beaches and dunes of the south.
One of the highlights of the Wild Atlantic Way is the Cliffs of Moher, a series of towering cliffs that rise 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. These cliffs are home to a variety of wildlife, including seabirds such as puffins, guillemots, and kittiwakes. Visitors can take a guided tour of the cliffs or hike the Cliff Walk, a 2-mile long trail that offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding countryside.
Another must-see destination along the Wild Atlantic Way is the Ring of Kerry, a scenic drive that takes visitors through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Ireland. The drive includes stops at the Muckross House and Gardens, a 19th-century mansion set in the heart of Killarney National Park, and the Di**le Peninsula, a rugged and wild landscape that is home to a variety of wildlife, including dolphins and seals.
The Wild Atlantic Way also offers visitors a chance to experience the rich culture and history of Ireland's west coast. Along the route, visitors can visit ancient stone circles and standing stones, medieval castles and abbeys, and traditional Irish villages.
In summary, Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way is an incredible coastal route that offers visitors a chance to experience the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Ireland's west coast. Whether you're looking to hike, drive, or simply relax and take in the views, the Wild Atlantic Way has something for everyone.
