REAL ID required for domestic travel BY MAY 7, 2025.
To identify a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state ID, look for a star in the top right corner, or the word "Enhanced" at the top of the card, indicating compliance with federal REAL ID requirements. Some states, like New York, issue Enhanced Driver's Licenses (EDLs) that are also REAL ID-compliant. These EDLs will have an image of the U.S. flag and the word "Enhanced" at the top of the card.
