Mariacher Shearing Services, owned and managed by Jay Mariacher, is a professional service that primarily services the Northeastern USA. Jay brings 30 years of sheep shearing experience to the alpaca community, and feels privileged to have shorn several thousand alpacas in more recent years. There are many established alpaca farms who are happy to provide referrals if desired. Jay does make a sout
hern run in late winter/early spring each year and is happy to travel as far south as he can find work. The schedule is filling up fast for the 2012 season, but Jay does have some availability so get in touch soon! Winning the open category in the 2010 Light Livestock Shearing contest really put Jay on the map for the alpaca community. Along with being trained by Matt Best, Jay truly has a flair for shearing and a feel for the alpacas. Jay also held his own taking 2nd place in the open category for the 2100 Light Livestock shearing contest. Mariacher Shearing Services also trims teeth and toenails, and is happy to file down fighting teeth as well and is available for herd health days at your farm year round.
