Flights canceled after a fun filled week of sun, sand and friends in Punta Cana. Already checked out of resort and at airport. Part of the party was on an earlier flight and already on plane. Rest were on a later flight but already checked their bags. I received the notification that all their flights were canceled and was already texting them before some of them knew the flights were canceled.
Now, the day clients are flying, I watch the weather carefully. Not only where they are flying from, but where they are flying to. I knew they were calling for strong storms at Newark this afternoon, so I had already looked up hotels this morning just in case there would be issues. I was able to find them a place to stay for the night that offered airport shuttle, while they were trying to retrieve luggage, file a claim for damaged luggage, and dealing with everyone else that was stressed at the airport not knowing what to do and where to go.
Always use a full service travel agent that helps you before, during and after your trip. You may never be in the above situation, but nice to know someone has your back!
