Nez Perce National Historical Park invites you to learn about traditional hide painting. On Aug. 15, 2026, at 1 P.M., renowned hide painter and author Jess Anders will give a demonstration at the park visitor center at 39063 U.S. Highway 95 just outside Lapwai, Idaho. Anders will recreate the buffalo robe the Mandan people gave to Lewis and Clark in 1805. It is painted using earth paints and hide glue. This will be the last event in the park’s Summer Speaker series.
