I’ve been thinking of these mountains a lot lately. Nepal has announced that it’s on track to have all of its eligible citizens vaccinated by early 2022, which sounds incredibly hopeful! I have an obligation to first visit solo to ensure that trips are safe for all, particularly the wonderful team of people we work in Nepal. But I’m excited by the idea that a return could be on the horizon in the (relatively? 🤞😬) not-so-distant future. As you may have heard, Nepal is struggling with a devistating resurgence of covid-19 cases. A strict lockdown was imposed on much of the country at the end of April and will remain in place at least through May 27th. As a result, many people aren't able to provide for their families right now. My dear friend .amatya is coordinating relief efforts and has set up a GoFundMe to provide folks who are unable to work as a result of the lockdown with food, clean water, basic medicine and masks. It costs about $40 to support a family in need for one month. If you're in a position to contribute any amount, it would be much appreciated!
