Lexington Carriage Company- Virginia Historical tours of Lexington, & carriage services for weddings, festivals and all special occasions Groups welcome.

Since 1985, the Lexington Carriage Company has offered an intriguing way for visitors to discover the rich history of Lexington. Slowed to the pace and rhythm of hoofbeats, horse-drawn carriages travel through Lexington's unique historic residential and business districts while professional tour guides point out places of interest along the way. The Carriage Company is also delighted to provide ca

rriage services for weddings and other special occasions! Our wedding service will make your day a “Cinderella story” event when a white convertible carriage pulled by a team of matched horses arrives to take you to your wedding, or to whisk you away for a romantic newlywed ride together, before taking you to your reception. A “Just Married” sign on the back of the carriage will announce to all that it is your day! Tours begin across the street from the Lexington Visitor Center (106 E. Washington Street) and operate daily (weather permitting) April-October. Walk ups are welcome, or reservations available at www.lexcarriage.com

Happy Wednesday! We just wanted to share a little update on Mutt, and thank everyone for your prayers and encouragement. Mutt is on a combination of daily oral meds and a chemotherapy cream that we apply directly to the tumor twice each week—both of these treatments are meant to hopefully shrink the cancer enough to eventually freeze it off. While it’s something of a slow process, it does feel like we are making good progress. Poor Mutt—he hates the chemo cream (and who wouldn’t?) but he’s a really good patient all things considered, and he only half-heartedly tries to kick my head as I apply it! 😜. Deep down, he knows we’re just trying to help him. He is in good spirits and holding his weight well. He’s always one of the first to call to us when we’re approaching the barn and he still makes sure to get any and all the cookies that he can, so he seems to be feeling pretty good. Please keep the prayers and good thoughts coming for him—it might be a marathon instead of a sprint, but we’re hopefully getting there! ❤️

It’s not the heat…it’s the humidity! The air is so thick that it’s just difficult to be outside for long, especially with forecasted highs in the 90s, so we have decided to close tours for today (Sunday the 20th). We apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you soon— on a cooler day!

Jake says we ordered the wrong size kiddie pool—this one seems to be a little small for him! Seriously, though, as a reminder for these hot days we can’t seem to get rid of—please plan your ride early in the day! We take the horses home when the temps get too high, so most of the afternoon tour times (in the hottest part of the day) will be canceled. Thank you for sharing our concern for these sweet horses!

This Independence Day marks a very special milestone for us. It was July 4th, 1985, that the Lexington Carriage Co was officially started by the Nicely family, and now all this time later, we celebrate 40 YEARS of operation! Here are a few photos of horses past and present who have been a part of this incredible journey. There aren’t as many photos from the pre-2000’s, but we will carry the fond memories of driving Lucy and Lester, Dick and Dan, Casey and Lacey, Maggie and Major, Ed and Jill, Bobby and Tommy, and so many others with us always. If you have photos from past weddings, tours, etc, please share—we would love to see them! We are so thankful to still be around after 4 decades (😱🤯) and look forward to hopefully doing this horse life with you all for many years to come! ❤️

We would be very grateful for any and all the prayers and positivity you all can send up for our precious boy, Mutt. He has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. While it is not typically a cancer that spreads quickly throughout the body, it’s still a very scary and devastating diagnosis. HOWEVER, He’s a fighter and we are fighting right along with him to do whatever we can to give him the best chance for a good outcome. We so very much appreciate that you all share our love for these sweet souls, so we will try to keep you updated as we go along with his treatment. ❤️❤️

Weston is the poster boy for “barn hair don’t care” 🤷‍♀️. We’re not quite sure what he has going on with that forelock, but what can we say? It’s his day off, he can cut loose!😆
