Places matter. The slave cabin is not simply an old building. It is a surviving witness to the lives of enslaved people whose stories were often left out of the historical record.
Please join us for this free event on Friday evening, October 9 at 6pm at the Jesse James Birthplace. Please bring a lawnchair and the event will take place near the slave cabin.

Here is a quick refresher on ticket options so you can plan your weekend:

Session 2: 6 – 10 PM

Session 2: 5 – 10 PM
🗓️ Sunday, Sept 27:
Session: Noon – 5 PM
🎟️ INDIVIDUAL RIDE TICKETS:
Price: $1.00 per ticket
Rides: 3 to 4 tickets per ride

It's Fall Fest Season! Come join the fun!

It’s Fall Fest week! 🍂🎡

The Liberty Fall Festival returns to Historic Downtown Liberty with more than 200 vendor booths, live entertainment, carnival rides and games, and all the festival food you’ve been thinking about since last year. The annual parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, so find your spot along the route early!

The Liberty Fall Festival is presented by the Liberty Chamber.

Homecoming season is here, with parades, games, and celebrations happening across the Northland over the next few weeks. It’s the perfect time to show some hometown pride and support our local high schools and universities!

And there’s plenty to celebrate! Northland high schools brought home FIVE state championship titles last year, while Park University Men’s Volleyball capped off its 2026 season with a perfect 35-0 record! 🏆🏐💪

September 9-14th 📅 Mark your calendars, the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall is a sight to behold - 3/5 the scale of the memorial in DC, it spans 300 feet from end to end.

It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their home town who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington.

📍Off Penn and Broadway in the historic district, Excelsior Springs MO

The Excelsior Springs Museum is preparing to welcome the Vietnam Traveling Wall to Downtown Excelsior Springs!

This exhibit honors the men and women who served during the Vietnam War and remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice. We are grateful to the Museum and everyone working behind the scenes to bring this meaningful experience to Excelsior Springs.

The exhibit will be on display September 9 though September 14 at Piburn Ballfield. We'll share more information including hours, special programs and ways you can help as they become available.

The Slave Dwelling Project brings crucial, long-overdue attention to extant slave dwellings across the country and highlights the vital importance of preserving these structures as part of our shared history. Through overnight stays, public programming, and living history interpretation, Mr. McGill encourages honest, meaningful conversations about slavery and its enduring legacy in America.
