I will be on vacation and no orders will be taken from Thursday, August 6th to Sunday, August 16th. So order now through Wednesday the 5th if you’re hoping to do the loop during that period. Orders will resume on Monday, August 17th.

Day 3-Final day of the Revision Ride

I’m pleased to report that the entire route is passable. There are no major obstacles to deal with or avoid. No blockages or closures. We encountered a lot of snow on the Three Peaks loop on Route H that was difficult to get through, but it shouldn’t be an issue by next weekend. However, that loop isn’t for the timid or novices. Avoid it if you fall into either category.

All preorders that were placed prior to Monday will ship out by the end of this week. Next week we will begin shipping new orders.

While small tweaks will be made to the new edition, the route itself has not changed from last year. Owners of the 2024 and 2025 editions can still utilize their version of the route.

Super cool to meet my Baja California Loop customer Taylor on the evening of his second day of his ride. He decided to camp out here for the night, making use of our old house to gain a little shelter from the ferocious wind. Taylor is riding the loop solo on his loaded Suzuki DR650, combining motel stays and camping out.

Thankfully the wind was nil this morning for packing up. Here he is about to depart for day 3 of what will no doubt be an epic Baja ride. Ride safe, amigo!

There’s a LOT of this stuff in the higher elevations of the Olympics Loop GPS Tour this time of year. Watch out, as it’s slippery as s**t.

Day 3: This is the first time in 22 years of updating the Olympic Mtns Loop GPS Tour that I chose lodging over camping out every night. We stayed at the Rainforest Resort Village on the shore of Lake Quinault on night two, which was so great after the intense workouts we got trying to pass the many obstacles we were presented with yesterday.

Today was a lot easier, though we had to work through a section of snow that we were advised by a SxS driver was totally impassable. Glad we didn’t take his word for it and checked it out ourselves. The only section we couldn’t complete was the Three Peaks loop north of Wynoochee Lake, which is always the last section for the snow to melt off. It will likely be another 3 weeks or more before it’s passable.

Some of the roads that were in bad shape and overgrown have been brushed and graded, while others are getting rougher and more overgrown still, and will likely suffer washouts in the near future if the FS doesn’t do some maintenance on them soon.

But for now, we were lucky and the route didn’t need to be modified at all this year. So if you have last year’s edition, you’re good to go another year. And for those on the pre-order list, your packages will be shipped out this week and should be in your hands very soon.

Day 2 of the annual revision ride. Oh man, what a slog! Two trees to get under (one requiring laying bikes completely on their sides), a rock slide to get over, lots of snow to get through, then a short section of downed trees to get over. Happy that we made it through all of it somehow intact, if a little beat up and worn out. And happier yet the forecast changed from rain in the morning tomorrow to dry! Here’s hoping we don’t get turned back tomorrow by any obstacles, as it’s the longest section between fuel stops.
