🚕Prearrange Transportation or use the Free ADO Bus from the airport. There are several transportation options at the airport including taxis that overcharge and those that will include a sales pitch.
🧏♀️Be prepared to say "No thanks" A LOT. From all the extra taxis and transportation options at the airport to sales pitches at your hotel. Or if someone tells you they were the waiter at your hotel. Or when shopping for souvenirs. Most are respectful and leave you alone after your first "No thanks," but others are more high pressured.
⛱Leave the resort for a few hours! Whether you just go try a restaurant, visit Isla Mujeres, take in some history at Chichen Itza or Tulum ruins, swim in Cenote, or visit one of the public beaches, a few hours or day away from your resort is well worth it!
🏢 Take advantage of the social activities that your resort has available! Resorts typically provide engagement activities like basketball shooting challenges, fitness classes, Spanish classes, Tequila or mixology classes, sand volleyball, kayaking, ect. Talk to fellow resort goers. You may learn a new game, make a new friend for the week, or even a new travel buddy!
💲Visitax is a mandatory tax for all foreign travelers in the State of Quintana Roo. You can prepay online or pay when you get there. QR codes are all over the airport. Be prepared to pay for this or show that you prepaid.
💲Bring smaller denomination bills to use for tips, even at an all-inclusive - waiters, drivers, luggage handlers, bartenders, ect. Larger bills can be used to convert to local currency, if needed.
👩💻Use your Travel Advisor, even while you are there! Your cellular data/wifi may move slower than back home if you are trying to book something or solve an issue, but there's is not!
