After much thought, I have decided to tell the story of my fathers death and what became of his hard work and dedication to The St Lawrence Experience. I helped my father for 14 years with his business, paying his bills monthly, doing bookings, maintaining this page, uploading and going through 1000's of trail cam pics, being there whenever he needed something and taking care of all of his medical situations. About 2yrs after my father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, my sister Mary Lou Ross, decided she would start helping my father out. She had money 💰 to spare after selling her home for $870,000+. A year before my fathers death she put some money into the cabins so my father would be able to stay in cabin #5, knowing she would be the eventually be the owner of cabin 4 and 5, but this was a gift for dad. 5 months before his death my father completed his will. Mary Lou purchased the LLC at that time. About 2yrs prior to this my dad put everything in my name except the business. All cabins with contents, out buildings, boats, tractor, Lawn mower, and all personal belongings, this was done as an assignment through the county clerks office. When my father did his will 5 months before his death, he made Mary Lou executor of his will. I had to sign the will as seller of cabin 1 and 3 to Katelin and cabin 4 and 5 to Mary Lou. I would get cabin 2. Since Mary Lou lives in NC it was decided my husband and I would run the business until Mary Lou could take over within 2 yrs. I must tell you we had not spoken for 10 yrs prior to dad's death due to her treatment of my mother. My husband and I stayed at camp for 2 seasons, but never did things up to her expectations. There were numerous arguments, disagreements and it was extremely stressful for us due to my health and mental health issues. We decided we could no longer run the business as I never wanted to to begin with. My pool hadn't been used in 2yrs, I didn't see my grandkids as often, I was on disability awaiting surgeries, it was rough. Then I was told it would be another year before she could come run the place. I told her I could no longer do it!
She decided she would sell The St Lawrence Experience, we would divide the money in 3 but she wanted $35,000 off the top of the sale. Of course neither Katelin or myself agreed with this decision, as what Mary Lou had done was prior to our fathers passing and was done out of goodness of her heart. Since she was executor and owner of The St Lawrence Experience she said she owned everything!! All money made, all reciepts, all purchases, sales, rent, taxes were hers! She even put my assigned items on her taxes as depreciation schedules. Everything for those 2 seasons was utilized for her benefit. There was no trust for Katelin per the will and her business did not keep insurance on the property per the lease agreement. My husband and I did not make one dime while there. All of the money from my cabin and Katelins cabins was Mary Lou's. She made all the decisions.
Mary Lou called the cops on me a couple times, but this is a civil matter so cops wouldn't do anything. She came up in July 2024 and took boat motors, boats, grills, chairs ect...back to NC!! I had to pay out over $12,000 in back lawyer bills and had to sell the truck we had sold to dad with the agreement on the bill of sale that it would come back to us upon his demise, to help pay for this lawyer bill. So now, since July we have not been able to go onto the property due to their being no insurance per agreement between Putney and The St Lawrence Experience. And I don't blame Putney for doing this, but I do blame Mary Lou for Katelin losing out on her inheritance!!! This is not right by any means!! I have all documentation to support all facts, including the assignment that was sent to me by the attorney that did dad's will....All of my fathers hard work has been left and I still have no idea what, if anything is going to happen with it. I've tried contacting numerous lawyers but no one will do the litigation. Any ideas, help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Since I worked for dad and have come to know alot of you and know what my father meant to alot to some of you, advise would be greatly appreciated.
I just wanted everyone to know the truth and if you have a lawyer in mind let me know.
This page is owned by me, as I created it and used it to help my fathers business, free of charge, therefore The St Lawrence Experience has no ownership!!
And one last thing, Mary Lou had dad's ashes buried up on the property and did not invite any of dads friends and now we can't even go up there to pay our respects! To say Katelin and I have been bothered by this is an understatement! RIP Dad!
