This August, explore the road that takes you through history with the Route 66 photo contest! Hosted by the National Scenic Byway Foundation, Overlook Maps and American Road magazine, this legendary photo and travel contest celebrates the sites, spirits and stories of the Mother Road. This year, the Litchfield Museum & Route 66 Welcome Center and Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield Illinois have been selected as Point-of-Interest sites in the contest.

For a wonderful Route 66 experience this Halloween, join in the Night at the Museum at the Litchfield Museum & Route 66 Welcome Center where music, history and storytelling will come to life! Robby Robinson will be the evening's host, along with special musical guests Sara Niemietz and Vinny Martell. The evening will be a unique blend of live music, personal stories and a multimedia experience that celebrates both the legacy of Route 66 and local heritage. Afterwards, you will have the chance to meet Robby, Sara, and Vinny, take photos and receive autographs, making for a personal and memorable evening. Space is limited, so arrive early!

Spring is in full bloom at Rt.66 Prairie, Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield Illinois and Henry Eilers Shoal Creek Conservation Area! Thanks to the efforts of volunteer groups such as Lambo:, the Litchfield High School environmental studies class, the Natural Area Guardians and Friends of Lake Lou Yaeger, these areas are beautiful and healthy, and the hiking trails are in great shape. We welcome you to come visit and enjoy them!
