We get this question sometimes, so we wanted to share a little perspective as Airbnb hosts:
“If I’m paying a cleaning fee, why do I still need to follow check-out instructions?”
It’s a fair question — and the answer really comes down to how Airbnb stays work behind the scenes.
Unlike a hotel, where there’s a full staff and all-day access to housekeeping, most short-term rentals operate within a tight window between guests. On turnover days, we often have just a few hours to fully clean, sanitize, inspect, restock, and reset the home before the next check-in.
The cleaning fee covers the deep cleaning — laundry, sanitizing surfaces, scrubbing bathrooms, changing linens, and making sure everything is guest-ready. The check-out guidelines, on the other hand, help us get started efficiently so we can stay on schedule.
Simple things like:
• Taking out the trash
• Starting the dishwasher
• Gathering used towels
• Leaving the home at the scheduled check-out time
These small steps make a big difference. They help us turn the home over faster and keep things running smoothly — especially for guests who request early check-in or are arriving the same day.
It’s not about asking guests to “do chores.” It’s about leaving the space in a respectful condition — much like you would in your own home or when staying with a friend.
We truly appreciate the guests who take a few extra minutes to follow the guidelines. It helps us provide a consistently clean, comfortable experience for everyone who walks through the door.
Thank you for helping us make every stay a great one 🤍
