Soaking up these last THREE days of our Colorado summer!

You will often see horses in corrals and pastures, standing side by side, nose to tail, in groups of two or three. Why do they do this!?

🐴1) Horses are prey animals. When they stand side-by-side with their friends, looking in opposite directions, they literally can watch each other’s backs and give early warning of any predators they see!

🐴2) A horse’s best fly swatter is its tail, but it’s really only good for the horse’s back half! If a horse wants to swat flies near its face, it needs to find a friend’s tail. Standing nose to tail in this way lets them swat each others flies!

It is bittersweet, as we have made so many great memories here in Livermore (and even more friends!), but our family is moving to new pastures! These are our last Colorado horseback adventures EVER!

On 9/20/2026 we will conclude our final season in Colorado and head to Tucson, Arizona. We have had a wonderful three summers here near Fort Collins, Colorado, but as our family heads in a new direction, so does Tattered Saddle! We will continue to operate in Tucson and Oro Valley, AZ, and are working on a wonderful new summer location (stay tuned for more info re: that!)
