The Chamber was honored to support WoodmenLife's 9/11 25th Anniversary Community Event, held in remembrance of that day and in honor of our local heroes.

A heartfelt thank you to Rebecca Holt and Rachel Harris for organizing such a meaningful event for our community. Special recognition also goes to the county and city first responders honored for their 25+ years of dedicated service — we are grateful for all you do to keep our community safe.

Thank you to everyone who came out to remember, reflect, and share a meal together. Events like this remind us what it means to be a community rooted in gratitude and strength.

Friendly reminder: The Overton County Opioid Board is now accepting applications for opioid crisis related grants, and we want to make sure our local nonprofits don't miss this opportunity!

If your organization works in prevention, treatment, recovery, or any other effort addressing the opioid crisis in Overton County, this funding could help expand that work. Applications are available now at the County Executive Office, 306 W. Main St., Room 232, Livingston, and can be picked up Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Deadline: Completed applications must be turned in no later than Monday, September 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Late applications will not be accepted.

If you know a nonprofit doing this kind of work, tag them below or share this post.

On Saturday, October 24, thousands of families will fill Historic Livingston Square and Central Park for an afternoon of safe trick-or-treating, and the businesses, churches, schools, and organizations who host booths are the reason it happens.

Here is what hosting looks like: trick-or-treating runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., your booth stays staffed for all three hours, and you hand out free candy or treats to every kid who comes by. You are welcome to share who you are and what you do, but this is a giveaway event and no selling or soliciting is permitted.
And here is the fun part: booths compete in a costume contest of their own. Decorate the tent, put your team in costume, and go all out, because the best booths get recognized at the Fall-O-Ween Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony that evening.

Space is limited and applications close September 18, so do not wait on this one.
