Hello everyone. I want to address and dispel a rumor circulating in regards to DCNR state leases. Someone made a comment on another post I saw that he heard DCNR was no longer going to renew leases.
I want you to know that I contacted Jennifer Bowman of the Bureau of Forestry in Harrisburg. She handles the lease transfers and if anyone would know, it is her. I am in contact with her quite a bit because I do sell a lot of these types of camps and she assists with the lease transfer process.
She said there is ABSOLUTELY NO TRUTH to that rumor. She actually wanted to try to find the source of the rumor so she can set things straight. Can you imagine the revenue that would be lost as well as tax base for the counties and townships if that were the case? These cabin owners pay $200 a year lease to the state and they also do pay school and county/twp taxes on the structure. There are THOUSANDS of cabins on lease land throughout the state. It would be a huge deal if that happened and probably all over the news!
I don't understand why people have to make reckless comments on somebody's post who is just trying to advertise their camp for sale.
It disappoints me when I see snarky comments on posts from those who have a property for sale. If you don't know the facts then don't make comments that are hearsay. It just makes you look like a fool.
If you don't like the price, or the type of property you don't have to buy it or make comments that are NOT TRUE so you can try and discredit that post! I wonder if that person would like it if he had a property to sell and people were making comments like that? Be respectful! Most of the people who make these kinds of comments are not even buying a property anyway, they just want to act smart and be a jerk.
YES, you should educate yourself on the rules and possible pitfalls of owning a state lease land cabin and I am extremely cognizant of providing that information with my listings. Jennifer of DCNR always confirms with me that the buyer of the cabin has the legal description and has actually read the rules and regs. She is wonderful to work with and takes the time to answer questions and help with any issues.
I find there are many people who are interested in them despite the fact it is on lease land because they feel the benefits outweigh any negatives. That is their choice as long as they are fully informed. There is never a guarantee that nothing will happen to your property no matter what and many people enjoy having a cabin that is surrounded by the forest!
It is easy to check it out. I went to the main source to get the answer.
*** If I see people repeating this rumor on any of my posts or other posts that I see from now on I am going to call them out and block them from my page!
I understand when people put posts on FB they open themselves up for opinions, but there is NEVER a need to be rude, reckless or disrespectful. If anyone would like to see a copy of DCNR rules and regs you are welcome to reach out to me or you can find them online on the DCNR website.
Thank you for taking the time to review this post. I just wanted to set the record straight since I confirmed that it is a false rumor directly from Harrisburg!
