Welcome to Jay Bear’s Retreat!

At Jay Bear’s Retreat we aim to give our guest a unique vacation experience. Located less than 50 minutes from downtown Columbus in Hocking Hills, this beautiful 20 acre property immerses you in nature. Nestle into a quaint cabin and escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Soon you will be able to experience the outdoors at new heights in one of our treehouse cabins.

While the treehouse cabins provide a unique getaway for all, we have a very special mission at Jay Bear’s Retreat: “Giving families of special needs children the opportunity to make memories while enjoying all nature has to offer.” Our son, nicknamed Jay Bear, was born 14 weeks premature and spent the first 5 months of his life in the NICU. Our family knows first hand how important it is to spend time together, but how difficult it can be with so many doctor and therapy appointments. Once a month we will offer a family with a special needs child a free getaway to make new memories that will last a lifetime. As we grow, we plan to expand and use a portion of the rental income to build a third treehouse that will be used 100% for these special families.

We want to give a big heartfelt thanks for your support in our first year at Jay Bear's Retreat! Together, we provided free trips for multiple special needs families, upheld the tradition of the girl scouts troop weekend, and raised $1,000 towards cancer research at the James Cancer Hospital. Here's to a remarkable first year!
