Just a reminder that your four-legged adventure buddies are welcome to join you on the river too!
We’re looking forward to Labor Day weekend and a few great days of getting families, friends, and of course furry friends, out on the Hocking River. Who’s paddling with us this weekend?

These late-summer water levels have us smiling for sure!
For this time of year, the river is looking fantastic for tubing, with plenty of water to keep you floating, relaxing and enjoying one of the best ways to soak up the last days of summer!
Grab your crew and come float with us! There’s still plenty of summer fun left on the river!

Good news! We’re getting back on the river today!
We’ll be opening one hour later than normal this morning (10:30 am) to give our crew some extra time to get our put-ins and landing cleaned up and as mud-free as possible after the high water.

For now, we’ll be running:
Rafts - a great option for families and less-experienced paddlers
Single kayaks - for experienced paddlers ages 16+
We’ll continue watching river conditions and adjust our options as levels come down.

Well… Mother Nature gets another win.
Unfortunately, the river is still running too high for us to safely operate, so Hocking Hills Canoe Livery will be CLOSED today and tomorrow. (August 21 and 22)

We know it’s disappointing and trust us that we’re disappointed too! We’ll continue watching the river levels closely and will be ready to get back out there as soon as conditions allow.

Still looking for some river fun tomorrow? We encourage you to check out our friends at Raccoon Creek Outfitters or Mohican Adventures. Different rivers mean different conditions, and they may be able to get you out on the water!

After all the rain we’ve had, the Hocking River is slowly making its way back down, and we’re planning to reopen this Friday (August 21)!
In the meantime, our crew is hard at work getting our put-ins back in tip-top shape. All that water left behind plenty of mud, so there’s some cleanup to do before we’re ready to welcome everyone back.
We appreciate your patience while Mother Nature does her thing and we do ours. We’re looking forward to getting boats and all of you back on the river Friday!
Stay tuned for any updates as we continue to monitor and watch river conditions.

We are closed today as river levels are rising quickly and more rain and storms expected throughout the day.
Our truck and trailer are at our 5 -mile put-in spot picking up boats. Where you see it sitting is not normally underwater! Aaron has worked tirelessly on our landings to keep them as mud-free as possible for our guests, so seeing the water already this far up gives you a pretty good idea of how quickly conditions are changing.

We hate disappointing anyone but safety has to come first. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the river and hope Mother Nature gives us a break soon!

Saturday, August 15, 2026River Update
We’re planning to be back on the river tomorrow! River levels are still higher than normal, so we’ll be starting the day with some restrictions in place.
The safety of our guests and staff is always our top priority, and these restrictions allow us to get back on the river while making sure conditions are appropriate for each type of watercraft and paddler.
At a minimum, Trip A will be available for:
• Single kayaks for experienced paddlers age 16+
• Rafts, which are a great choice for families with children, inexperienced paddlers, and anyone looking for a little more stability
As river levels continue to drop:
• At 900 CFS - we’ll begin allowing canoes for guests age 13+
• At 800 CFS -we’ll return to normal Trip A operations
• At 650 CFS -Trip B will reopen
The river has been steadily dropping, so we’re hopeful we’ll be able to offer more options as the day goes on.
You can keep an eye on the current CFS by clicking River Conditions on our Trip A page:
https://hockingriver.com/trip-a/
We’ll continue monitoring conditions closely and making adjustments as the river allows. We’re looking forward to getting everyone back out there!

08/12/2026

We are still CLOSED today (Wednesday, August 11) due to high water levels.

Here's a little perspective -the Hocking River typically averages around 240 CFS in August. Right now, it’s running at approximately 6,620 CFS! CFS (cubic feet per second) is simply a measure of how much water is flowing down the river. So that’s A LOT of water!!
We’ll keep watching the gauges and reopen as soon as conditions allow. Hopefully all this rain is setting us up for some great river conditions this weekend!
Looking for something to do today? Our sister business, Fox’s High Rock Farm, is OPEN 10-5. Stop by and visit the animals, do some gem mining, and enjoy a little farm fun!
