This might be one of our longest traditions here in Cache Valley?! Have you participated in May Day in Mendon?

The Maguire Primrose blooms of the side of cliffs in Logan Canyon. I found these a few weeks ago along the Logan River trail. Our canyon is the only place it grows in the world! It was listed as a threatened species in 1985. It’s always a treat to see these pretty babies.

I wish I could go back and see Logan in 1940’s. What would you like to see? #1940

“Oh! Just look at that!” he said. Recently I took a reporter from Canada on the historic downtown Logan walking tour. We went down Main Street and took a right down Center. He glanced down the street and just couldn’t believe his eyes. Honestly I wasn’t sure what he thought was so great. Center street is charming with the sign over the street and all the shops and people buzzing around. He said, “Just look at the backdrop! Those mountains are just so beautiful! And they are everywhere you look!” He took out his camera and took a photo like this, mostly a building with the mountains peeking over the top. “That’s so nice!”

It’s so refreshing to look at our valley through new eyes. We get so used to seeing the mountains, the sunsets and sunrises. The fields and animals. Do you ever take it for granted? Just simply driving to the store should knock your socks off!! We are so lucky to live here

Was it you?? What a weird winter!

Taking advantage of these warm January temps! We hiked up the first part of rattlesnake over to the lookout over Cache Valley. I call this the towers hike. It took us 2 hours up and back. The valley was covered in fog, it was beautiful, and the sunrise was awesome! Just bundle up, it’s not bad out there!

The Logan Library has changed over the years as the city has grown. I don’t think we could survive without one! I live in Millville, and our library in Providence has been threatened to be shut down. Looks like the funding will be reassessed in 6 months.
Do you use your local library?

Here’s my top picks:
❄️Bonneville Shoreline trail. There’s many places you can get in it. Hyde Park, North Logan or Logan. It runs along the valley, but it makes you feel away from it all.
❄️ Logan High-line trail- pick this one up at first dam. The first little bit is a steep up, but once you are at the trailhead, it’s easy! Well traveled, beautiful views, close to town.
❄️ Blacksmith Fork- At the bottom of Blacksmith fork canyon, there’s a huge parking lot. I love this trail as it goes through a frisbee golf course. It follows the river all the way up. Go as far as you want and turn around.

These hikes are up and back, you decide how far you want to go.

What trails do you like to go on in the wintertime?

You can’t ever believe em. Are you sad, or are you glad we still don’t have much snow here in the valley?
