ASA Tournament to return to London this month
Archers will soon return to London for the Archery Shooters Association (ASA)‘s annual TruBall Pro/Am National 3D Archery Tournament for the first time since the May 2025 tornado.
The annual tournament is one of the world’s largest dedicated to 3D archery. This year, archers will compete May 28-30 at the Wilderness Road Event Center, formally known as the Laurel County Fairgrounds.
“The property has made a huge transformation from the events of previous years,” said Wilderness Road Event Center Director Christina Sowders. “I am looking forward to sharing this exciting event center and the future additions.”
The property is operated and managed by London Tourism & Parks.
Due to the devastation of last year’s tornado, which leveled all existing structures on the Fairgrounds property, ASA cancelled the 2025 tournament which was to be held just weeks after the storm. Following the cancellation, the ASA gave back to the community of London-Laurel County by hosting a two-day benefit shoot in Shepherdsville, Kentucky which raised $56,000 for tornado victims. Martin’s Peterbilt agreed to match the first $50,000 raised, ultimately bringing the total funds raised to $106,000.
“After the devastating tornado that impacted Laurel County and the Fairgrounds last May, the ASA community is especially grateful to once again return to London and celebrate the sport of archery alongside one of the most welcoming communities that we visit,” commented Ken White, Vice President of Marketing with ASA. “The resilience shown by this community has been truly inspiring. We missed the incredible hospitality and the warm welcome from the London Tourism staff, and everyone involved throughout the community.”
The event is being hosted in partnership between London Tourism & Parks and the London-Laurel County Tourist Commission. Though the County commission holds the event contract, the commissions share the costs associated with hosting the tournament as part of their joint, ongoing commitment to supporting tourism and athletics.
While the event has been held in the same location since 2007, with the exception of last year, archers can expect to see some changes in place this year.
“The most significant changes will include use of the newly opened pavilion that will house vendors, [a] food court, [and] registration for the event,” said Sowders. “Some archery lanes were directly affected by the [May 2025] tornado. Additional lanes have been added on the north end of the powerlines.”
Also in contrast to previous years, no activities will be held on the Sunday following the event.
Kim Collier, Director of the London-Laurel County Tourist Commission, shared that the event draws in about 1,800 to 2,000 archery competitors annually, with the winners earning plaques and monetary prizes.
“This event has a tremendous economic impact for our community,” said Collier. “Having this many people in town staying in hotels, eating in restaurants, shopping, buying gas, etc. is a huge win for London-Laurel County.”
“We are excited to once again fill the fairgrounds with arrows, competition, and community spirit,” said White. “London has always been a special stop on the ASA tour, and we’re honored to be back. We appreciate the local organizers, volunteers, city leaders, and Tourism representatives who worked tirelessly to help prepare the venue and support the return of the event.”
