We made it to Long Beach in 3 days and 1 hour. I have to thank my crew, Colin Trevor and Victor Bast. These two are students of and master practitioners of Sailing. The fact is, I couldn’t have done it without them, even if I thought about undertaking it solo. There are many unsung heroes here. There are people who helped all along the way: Michael Morris, Rob Levy, Blue Pelican, Olga Pombo Negrete, various members of OYC, EYC, Matthew Scheusler, Buckley Stone, Max and Levi Laske, Rose Mota-Nadeau, Sheila Blackburn, Bill Laske, Karen Wegrzn(moral support), friends and family. I’m sorry if I missed you. It’s late at night and I’m not thinking completely straight.
As many of you know, I’ve been diagnosed with MS. It’s not the death sentence many people believe, but it has been eating away at me for longer than I can remember. I’ve made the decision to sail as long as I can stand and steer Chance toward fair winds and following seas. There were many occasions that I was ready to throw in the proverbial towel. It’s really not an option. In other words, I’d rather die trying to realize my dream of sailing around in the world than move into a cheap condo on any shore. Please come sailing with me anytime you get to Los Angeles or Orange County. I promise you won’t be bored.
