A final batch of photos from my journey to East Greenland on . It’s truly an experience I will never forget that exceeded all my expectations in every way. The nature was stunning, the polar bear sightings more frequent and fascinating than I could ever have dreamed of, and the outstanding knowledge and passion of all the expedition team was beyond impressive. I learned so much from them! Special shout out to the photography experts on board that not only shared their vast knowledge and experiences- but inspired my son to pursue his passion in photography to even greater lengths. Last but not least- I can’t say enough great things about the food onboard. Wow! So delicious and diverse- just incredible! I hope someday you get to experience something like this and that I can somehow help make that a reality!

I can’t believe I got to see this with my own eyes! What an amazing experience! Once you get past the Polar Bear- you realize the ice is completely mesmerizing!

So excited to be going on my first National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions cruise! This one is an amazing journey through Western Iceland and Eastern Greenland. We are just at the start- but already thrilled with the onboard experience and the first expedition to some incredible waterfalls in Iceland. The ship itself is beautiful and very comfortable- but what is most impressive is the crew of expedition leaders who are all experts in different fields and will clearly make this an even more enriching experience. More in days to come (or in my daily stories). A couple of other cool things on board- 2 “igloos” you can stay in overnight and the Lindblad “open bridge” policy that lets everyone see the navigation. Amazing!!! Switzerland is indisputably one of the most beautiful, picture perfect countries in the world. I used to come here often on my own family vacations as a child and was thrilled to share it’s beauty with my own family. There is so much to see and experience here in such a small and easily navigable country. Some of our highlights were: car-free Wengen as a home base from which to experience the Bernese Oberland and world-famous Jungfraujoch mountain, the beautiful cities of Bern, Basel and Zurich, the Lakes of Lucerne and Lausanne, and last but not least- the town of Gruyeres- where yes- I had to have a fondue despite the warm weather! No matter what type of traveler you are - and what season- Switzerland will have something for you and I’d love to help you plan a visit to get the most out of your stay.

Incredibly, this was my first visit to Berlin- but it certainly won’t be my last! I expected the vibrancy and some of the beautiful modern architecture- but didn’t expect to see so many historical and impressive buildings- nor to be as engaged in the history of the east/west division. A special shout out to Hotel de Rome, a Rocco Forte Hotel - for a truly exceptional stay in an unbeatable location from which to enjoy everything Berlin has to offer. An honorary mention to the Doner Kebab that is so prevalent in town 🙂 TravelStore

A short but wonderful stay in London to kick off our European Summer travels. The city has so much to offer - and this time- we were blessed with unusually perfect weather. Must be the work of my great travel advisor:-). One of the things I love most about travel are those “unexpected moments” and this time we walked by Trafalgar Square and stumbled across the 20th Anniversary celebration of Musicals on The West End. It was so awesome to watch that we had to shift our plans and just enjoy the moment. Then- we were off to Borough Market for an amazing assortment of foods. Such a great time! Last but not least - staying at Kimpton Fitzroy London made everything even more special and magical.

California never ceases to amaze me. So lucky to live here. Did a weekend escape to Death Valley for my first time and was so impressed by the beauty and diversity of the landscapes. Also- discovered that the park is a “dark skies” park- so the natural light show that the stars and galaxies put on at night is truly out of this world! Check out the photo my son took of the skies at night! Whether you live a few hours away from the park - or across the continent- you should add Death Valley to your visit list. Of course- it helps to visit when the weather is not too hot- as this is place has the record for both the hottest place on earth and the lowest!

Such an amazing 6 days in the Galápagos Islands. Exceeded every expectation! So many animals everywhere and so much natural and diverse landscape beauty. Special thanks to galaxyexpeditions and the crew of our ship for the hospitality, friendship and wonderful service that made the experience even more memorable. New Zealand’s South Island blew me away with its stunning and diverse natural beauty. The process of driving from one place to the other was as enjoyable as the destinations itself due to the views. Highlights of our week here (wish it could have been longer) include: Queenstown- a charming alpine village with epic views and so many options for adventure, the world-renown Milford Sound and its numerous waterfalls, the road to Franz Josef Glacier during peak Lupin flower season, the Tranzalpine train across the mountain range to Christchurch, and Christchurch itself where we particularly enjoyed the experience of punting down the river. we left New Zealand knowing we will be back because there is so much more left to explore. Just completed the first half of our New Zealand adventure on the North Island. An amazing assortment of unforgettable places and experiences (photos not in order). Highlights include:
- The beautiful, cosmopolitan Auckland and its sky tower observatory
- Taking the ferry over to Waiheke Island to visit great wineries and wonderful views. (Great beaches too if weather permits)
- Head over to Waitomo caves for numerous different ways to explore the glow worm caves! We particularly loved the more adventurous Legendary Black Water Rafting company tour through the caves. So fun to both jump into the caves from a waterfall and to float in the dark while viewing the otherworldly glow worms.
- Speaking of otherworldly - a visit to Rotorua and its nearby Wai-o-Tapu geothermal waterpark will blow your mind! So many different beautiful colors and minerals coming out of the steaming waters. A true can’t miss!
- Rotorua is also the capital of Maori culture and we enjoyed a fabulous dinner (Hangi!) and show learning about the Maoris.
