ITALIC is a creative studio founded by like-minded designers with a shared visual aesthetic and values for a more collaborative and streamlined process. The studio was founded as a means to pursue our own creative interests and more importantly have a place to work together. We value design first a

nd foremost, but our services and capabilities extend beyond most traditional studio labels. Our experience has spanned traditional and non-traditional advertising, design, and digital production and we want more. The studio specializes in building brands from the ground up and in leading established brands into new directions. IN OTHER WORDS…
We are not a specialty design studio with a single focus. Design exists everywhere in all mediums and our clients have different design needs depending on their business or brand. We work in all areas of design that are relevant to those client needs and are enthusiastic about the process. Whether it be typical branding packages with logo, style guide, print & digital collateral, or illustration work, printed matter, motion graphics, art direction for a marketing campaign, interior and exterior environmental design, or simple creative strategy. We do not limit ourselves and our studio capabilities to a pre-defined list of services.

Brand identity we designed for ☀️

Orange County California contains some of the most beautiful and biodiverse land in the world. From Costa Mesa to Laguna Beach, from Crystal Cove to Silverado, and from the Santa Ana Mountains to the Pacific Ocean this land is collectively known as the Nature Reserve of Orange County. Within the reserve there is more than 38,000 acres of permanently protected lands that are open to the public. NROC reached out to us to help unify this vast habitat through new messaging, branding, a system for the individual parks, and various marketing applications.

LFLA rebrand by . The provides critical support to the Los Angeles Public Library resulting in free programs, resources, and services available to the millions of adults, children, and youth in Los Angeles. Through fundraising, advocacy, and innovative programs, the Library Foundation strengthens the Los Angeles Public Library and promotes greater awareness of its valuable resources. We were tasked with the opportunity to rebrand this vital institution. Using the architectural, or portal-like silhouette of a book, we delivered a bold and iconic visual identity that was designed to stand the test of time. CASE STUDY: Rebrand

The opportunity: The world’s largest meditation app was growing and needed to speak to a wider audience. Our solution: We built on the foundation of the brand to evolve it, not re-invent it. The result was a simpler, bolder, colorful identity that is poised to stand the test of time.

Over the course of six months, we partnered with the internal design team at Headspace to give the brand a new identity that would reach a mass audience as meditation has become a mainstream activity for most of the world now. Through many iterations and design explorations, we ultimately pushed the boundaries of the brand look & feel into a bolder, more colorful territory that was able to incorporate photography, texture, depth, a new custom typeface developed by , and a simplified illustration library. The brand evolution we designed extended to animations, digital, print and outdoor marketing materials.
