IR-2026-02, Jan. 8, 2026 — The Internal Revenue Service announced Monday, January 26, 2026, as the opening of the nation’s 2026 filing season. This year, several new tax law provisions of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill become effective, which could impact federal taxes, credits and deductions.

IR-2024-04, Jan. 8, 2024 — The Internal Revenue Service today announced Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, as the official start date of the nation’s 2024 tax season when the agency will begin accepting and processing 2023 tax returns.

It is expected that the IRS will start accepting and processing tax returns for the current tax season from late January.

January 23rd. 2023 IRS E-File goes “live” allowing acceptance and processing of electronic tax returns for the vast majority of tax filers. Paper returns will begin processing a week or two later.

The filing deadline for the regular tax season will be April 18th, 2023 given that the normal April 15th deadline falls on the weekend and the Emancipation day holiday (April 17th) in D.C. Approved extension filings will be due by October 18th, 2023.

Se espera que el IRS comience a aceptar y procesar declaraciones de impuestos para la temporada de impuestos actual a partir de fines de Enero.

23 de Enero 2023 IRS E-File se activa y permite la aceptación y el procesamiento de declaraciones de impuestos electrónicas para la gran mayoría de los contribuyentes. Las devoluciones en papel comenzarán a procesarse una o dos semanas después.

La fecha límite de presentación para la temporada regular de impuestos será el 18 de Abril de 2023 dado que la fecha límite normal del 15 de Abril cae el fin de semana y el feriado del día de la emancipación (17 de Abril) en D.C. Las presentaciones de extensión aprobadas vencerán el 18 de Octubre de 2023.
