For Memorial Day today we’re headed to Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc to honor those who gave their lives for the United States of America. If that was someone in your family, we’re thinking of you today. These videos are from our day yesterday in the Utah Beach area. 🇺🇸🫡

Do you have that ONE legendary photo of a WWII Veteran in your family? A picture of them somewhere out in the field getting the job done? This is one of those photos. (And yes, we'd love to see yours!)

The man in the photo is Harold Earl Kahn. This is somewhere in Germany in 1945.

Can you identify anything in the photo for an absolute fact?

We know that Harold was born on 7/31/24 in Milwaukee.

We know that before he was drafted Harold worked at Cutler-Hammer. Probably in their photo department. Cutler-Hammer made a lot of the tech and motors that propelled American Forces in the war.

So there is some logic to our guess that in this photo, Harold might be working for the Signal-Corps, but we don't know.

Harold's son would very much like to know, but Harold isn't around to answer the question. His son was too young to ask more questions when Harold was around, so we're asking you.

We've determined that the vehicle is a Dodge WC-54 with an ambulance chassis. A vehicle often used by both the Signal Corps and the MPs.

We can guess that the BER on the sign is for BERlin or BERchtesgaden, if only there weren't 94 other cities in Germany that start with BER.

Could this have been post-war in Berlin with the 82nd Airborne occupying forces?

Do you think that is a German Luger in his hand? A C**t 45?

Your guesses are welcome!

God love the fans of the American Forces in WWII... on Facebook.

Thank you for any input you can provide.

In 1940, 19 year old ‘Uncle Steve’ volunteered to leave his home in New Jersey and serve in WWII. It would be 77 years before he came home.

You can read more about Steve in the paragraphs below each photo in this post.

Easy Company from Band of Brothers wouldn’t go on their Last Patrol in the area until mid-February, 1945. But Bill Rosenbaum and Dave Mustin had already been there for over a month. And now they were prisoners.

This is a story from Baden-Baden in WWII. A story of two men who survived their time there, the luxury hotel that still doesn’t want you to know it was once a prison, and of an American woman imprisoned in that hotel. A woman that we can all be exceptionally proud of.

You can read more in the captions below each photo.

We travel through much of this story on Day 8 of our 12-night Band of Brothers tour.

Should you add extra days in Munich to your WWII tour? What else is there to see?!

Munich was one of the key cities involved in the history of WWII, and we cover that on a walking tour when our Band of Brothers tour rolls into town. Our last night of the tour is in Munich. But should you stay in the city for a few days after the end of the tour? It depends on what you like to do!

The city is famous for its beer, its churches, and the giant glockenspiel in the main square.

But Munich is also exceptional for shopping, art museums, people-watching, theater-going, palace touring, and dining.

We highlight some favorites below for you to consider.

When George R Allen was drafted, he couldn't imagine the Bavarian adventure he had in store. He was part of the 101st Airborne, but in a way you may not have heard of before.

George’s story is told below the photos in this post.

Hoadley & Blake is a Band of Brothers tour company.
We visit the places in this story when we are on tour.
We hope you’ll join us in 2026 to see where George chased down N***s in 1945.
