Don Riddell
Friend, Mentor, Adventurer

With heavy hearts, we honor the memory of Don Riddell, who passed away on July 19, 2025, after a brief but intense illness. Don was a commanding figure—not just because of his height, but because of the depth of his kindness, wisdom, and presence. Alongside his beloved wife, Sharon Valdez, Don became a cornerstone of the WOW! Travel Club family. Together, they explored nearly 50 countries and joined us on 20 extraordinary WOW! adventures. Don was a proud father to three sons, a devoted father-in-law, and a joyful grandfather to five grandchildren—his love for family always at the center of his life.

Don first traveled with WOW! in 2006 on our inaugural journey to India, and from that moment forward, he and Sharon were inseparable from our growing community. As our first-ever WOW! Select Explorers of the Month, they set a powerful example of what it means to embrace life through travel. Don’s influence ran deep—not just as a frequent traveler, but as a mentor, thought partner, and dear friend to our founder Marilyn Murphy, to current owner Gabriel Haigazian, and to all of us on the WOW! Travel Club team. His encouragement, clarity, and deeply intuitive insights helped shape not only the path of WOW!, but also the lives and leadership of those around him.

Don lived with purpose and presence. Whether coaching executives, serving his church, or simply enjoying a beach walk with Sharon, he brought intentionality to everything he did. One of his favorite phrases was “Fly Above”—a simple but profound reminder to rise above the noise and see the bigger picture. As we mourn his absence, we imagine him now doing just that—soaring above, continuing to guide and inspire from a higher place. We hold Sharon and the entire Riddell family in our hearts and find comfort in the legacy Don leaves behind: one of generosity, curiosity, humor, and love. His voice, his stories, and his spirit will forever be part of every journey we take.

Meet Sonja Rheaume, our WOW! Select Explorer of May. She’s been on four WOW Travel Club! trips and will join us in Mongolia this year for her fifth—just one continent away fromher goal of visiting all seven.
Her WOW! journey began with NECA corporate travel alongside Gabriel and Marilyn, and she later joined WOW! Travel Club to keep the adventures going.
Her favorite destination? Kenya.
Sonja loves that WOW! trips let her show up, dive in, and enjoy every moment thanks to thoughtful planning and amazing local hosts. A mom of three
