Are you looking to obtain your Croatian citizenship? Here is some helpful information from the Consulate General of Croatia in Los Angeles
🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷
Currently, we have have appointments available from the beginning of October 2025. Due to the overwhelming number of last-minute cancellations by those who realize that they do not have all of their documents, we will not be setting any appointments for anyone until they have all of their original documents and original translations in hand.
Let us know when you have everything on the list of documents to apply for citizenship, and we will then set your appointment for the first available time, which is currently the beginning of October. To plan your application packet, make sure that all of your documents are valid for at least four months when you request an appointment.
We schedule appointments per household since each adult of Croatian descent needs his or her own original documents showing lineage.
We are including all the current requirements for applying by descent (Article 11).
If you are applying through a relative who left Bosnia and Hercegovina or another former Yugoslav republic, or if you were born in Croatia, please email us back to let us know so that we can send you information for those situations (the procedure is slightly different).
If you are applying through a parent who has Croatian citizenship (that means that the parent has a domovnica and Croatian passport), or if you are applying as the spouse of a Croatian citizen, please email us back as the requirements are slightly different.
Because we cover such a huge area (19 states), we go to different cities and offer Consular services there. For those locations, please follow us on our FaceBook page as we list the dates there because we will start accepting appointments on a first-come, first-served basis as soon as the announcement is on FaceBook. However, those appointments are for those living in or around the states where the Consular Days are held.
As of now, please check FaceBook and email us according to instructions on FB once the announcement for your area is made. Click on the following link to our FaceBook page:

Only those who have all of their documents with translations will be given an appointment. Since there is no expiration date on documents from Croatia and all other documents with the exception of the FBI clearance are good for 1.5 years from the date of the appointment, we strongly suggest that you get started on gathering all of your documents and translating them now. If you do not get an appointment at one of our Consular Days, at least those documents and translations will be valid for future appointments in Los Angeles.
If you are applying in Los Angeles, please notify us as soon as you have all of your documents with Apostille seals and translations in hand and we will give you the first appointment available, which may be anywhere from three to five months, so please plan your FBI clearance accordingly as we go by the date of the report, not the date of the Apostille seal. It is much easier to get an appointment for one or two adults rather than a family of more than 3 adults. If you have a large household, please notify us before you proceed with the FBI background check so that we can see what we have available.
Please notify us by email only and put your phone number in all correspondence. Do not send us scanned copies of anything unless you are asked to do so.
