A love letter to Paris 💌

This early summer trip has been replaying in my head on repeat. Picnics with the locals, wandering museums, the light on the Seine at golden hour and the clinks of glasses filled to the rim with French champagne, and the food- every single time, it’s so so good.

I’m holding this trip a little differently at the moment, watching the fires in Europe and thinking of those communities and to everyone who calls those beautiful destinations home. 🤍

I love Paris, even under a ‘heat dome’. Here’s how we beat it 🇫🇷 🥵 🥂 👉

• After sending a discerning client to Lafayette’s - Paris it was def on my radar. Surrounded by beautiful decor we devoured the oysters from Brittany, savored the chilled champagne, loved their friendly service, settled into the comfortable AC, and enjoyed a homemade tray treat to kick off my bday 🍰 🥰

• Strolling the green spaces of Paris is always a great idea, and exploring the Luxembourg gardens 🍃 during the cool morning temps was perfection.

• if you haven’t heard of the historic arcades in Paris, here’s your queue 💡 Beautifully designed and the 200 year old bookstore discovery was a bonus!

• Beating the heat in the afternoon meant heading indoors and there are SO many incredible museums in Paris to choose from. We landed on the Palais Galleria to view Marie Antoinette’s corset and the newer reopened Grand Palais 💎

• Did I mention getting out and about in the early morning? Cooler temps and no crowds made our 9am visit to Palais Royal camera ready.

• The cafe culture in Paris is iconic but with temps hitting close to triple digits and little AC, we pivoted to picnics at sunset - hitting up 📍 Rue Cler and stocking up on cheese, baguettes and bubbles hit the spot.

• And after dark- that Eiffel Tower view never gets old 💫

I can never say no to Paris 🥐🇫🇷

We were obsessed with this gorgeous wallpaper lining the lobby, and the garden view room where I fell in love with the afternoon light and high tea.

5 Things to Know Before Booking a Private Villa 🏡

1. Start early. Villa inventory isn’t like hotels — availability is limited, and calendars aren’t readily available. We’re working directly with rep companies and owners, and finding the right vibe, price and bedrooms- all takes time.

2. Your home away from home, but even better. 🤩 Families, multi-gen groups, milestone celebrations — nothing compares to having your own space, your own pool, and zero strangers around.

4. Staff is often à la carte. Housekeepers, private chefs, yoga instructors, massage therapists and more — many villas offer varied types of staff as an add-on. It can definitely be arranged, but it’s usually a separate cost worth budgeting for.

5. This is where a travel advisor comes in. Navigating villa inventory, vetting properties, coordinating with owners — it’s a lot of moving parts. I do this so you don’t have to.

Guess who’s celebrating 10 years as a travel advisor? 🎉

Ten years ago, I was burnt out from the corporate world, running in a bazillion different directions as a single mom with two young kids. I knew one thing for sure, I absolutely loved travel.

Going back to when I was 8 years old living on a rural farm, I read every travel magazine I could get my hands on (an issue of started it all!), traveled every chance I got, and loved being the go-to person friends called for travel intel.

Thanks to the encouragement of my besties (and.. some margaritas), I decided to pivot and make this my full time career. Starting with a course while building Bastian World Travel’s website, then ‘opening my doors’ asking every person I knew, “book your hotel through me”.

A decade, a global pandemic, thousands of itineraries and millions of invoice dollars later, I’m grateful I took that leap, thanks to the cheerleading squad of family and friends, my supportive host agency , our incredible global partners, and every client who trusted me with their precious time and travel vision.
