With Labor Day weekend right around the corner, we wanted to revisit one of our most ask questions: Where can I access the river with my own vessel?
Currently there are only 4 public access points for the entire main stem of the Mohican River from the confluence of the Clear Fork to the confluence with the Kokosing Scenic River spanning 27.5 miles. Aside from these 4 access points, all other areas are privately owned and cannot be used to access the river.
Public access Point A is located at 3131 SR3. This location offers public parking and a visitor center with local materials. The closest bathroom is across SR3 at the state park. Please note, this area contains a changing station for mountain bikers, this is not a bathroom. The next access point is 11.1 miles from point A.
Public access Point B is the Greer Landing, located at 20389 Brinkhaven Road. This location offers parking, porta john, picnic tables and a grill. From here the next public access point is 5.5 miles from access point B.
Public access Point C is the Bridge of Dreams located at 16606 Hunter Road. This access point has a bathroom, picnic shelter and information. The last access point is 11.5 miles from Point C.
Public access Point D is The Kokosing/Mohican Confluence. This access point is located at 161 Township Road 423.
Plan your trip wisely. Canoe Liveries are unable to transport you and your vessel back to your vehicle. Using private property to access the river can result in trespassing charges. Water levels are controlled by the Army Corps of Engineers and may change rapidly. Always check the river rating system prior to your trip. This can be found on our website, DiscoverMohican.com or MohicanAdventures.com. This color rating system is updated daily by 9am.
A map of these points can be found here: https://discovermohican.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Mohican-River-Water-Trail.pdf?fbclid=IwY2xjawUFQrlwZG9mAWV4dG4DYWVtAjEwAGJyaWQRMXM2eE4yTWxmbTJIVFFhZTlzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeAFp4Dv4m7cWpiZggfTvUZlrOt5vBcAf9ewKUj5jDT9M1UGPki3q0BKqFw8w_aem_noNbfJUsdfwd3hshPm08HQ
Or you can pick one up at one of our locations!
As always, enjoy your river trip, but Respect the River!
