Even without the sound of arriving trains, Louisville's Union Station still feels like a gateway to another era.

Buikt in 1891 in the grand Romanesque Revival style, it welcomed ravelers arriving in Louisville from across the country during the golden age of rail travel. At its height in the 1920s, 58 trains passed through the station each day, carrying immigrants, Derby visitors, business, travelers, soldiers, and even presidents into the city.

The tracks around it have long since been paved over, but the beauty remains. The clock tower still rises above Broadway, and the stone arches, turrets, stained glass, and heavy limestone walls feel almost untouched by time.
