Marietta, Ohio, is a historic town located at the confluence of the Ohio River and Muskingum River. Established in 1788 as the first permanent settlement of the Northwest Territory, Marietta played a role in the westward expansion of the United States. The town's geography, featuring rivers and hills, contributed to its early development as a transportation and trade hub.

Mound Cemetery features ancient Native American earthworks, including the Great Mound, which is one of the largest conical burial mounds in Ohio. Campus Martius Museum focuses on the history of the Northwest Territory and the early settlers of Ohio, with exhibits that include pioneer artifacts and historical buildings. The Ohio River Museum has exhibits on the history of river transportation and steamboats and includes a restored steam towboat that visitors can explore to learn about life on the river.

It is hard to beat spring sunsets, green lush grass, spring flowers blooming, and new buds on the trees coming to life. Anytime is great for a visit to Buell’s Landing, but watching Spring come to life on the river…. is hard to beat!

Trolley tours will begin for the season Saturday, May 6th. Tours in May will be on Saturdays at 10:30 am starting and ending at the Armory. To reserve your seat call 740-350-9852.

We are thrilled to announce that Marietta will be having 14 riverboat visits this summer!

Marietta will be having visits by the American Heritage (formally known as Queen of the Mississippi) and the American Countess.

As a reminder, visitors are not allowed to step on, tour, or ride any of the visiting boats but we invite you to view the boats from the Ohio River Levee.

It is a beautiful spring morning here at Buell’s Landing. Perfect morning for a walk around the island,viewing the beautiful spring flowers. Then to relax on the screened porch with a cup of coffee. River views are from sitting on the screened porch.
