When we went to bed on January 9, 2025 ... I thought we might get 1" of snow. Then when I woke up on January 10th we had around 8" and it was stunning!

The snow was so fluffy and light and it hung on every branch so I had to go for a walk with my camera. I started on the south side of the property where our house sits .. and then went to The Farm House and The Trails.

It was SO PEACEFUL and QUITE .. I ended up walking around for over 2 hours on the 10th and then went back out for over 1 hour on the 11th. I took tons of pictures and these are some of my favorite around The Farm House and on The Trails behind it ...

I hope you enjoy the photos and I would love for you to commit on your favorites ..

It is March 2024 and the lake level is so low.

While it is a bit further walk to the water, it is a gentle slope! And it does give us more land to explore ... When the lake is low the grands love going out on the point ... looking for treasures & playing on the old foundations (which are typically underwater).

We take advantage of the low lake level when possible. We have had so many picnics on this point ... it one of my favorite things to do with the grands when the lake is low.

We appreciate all the gifts God has blessed us with and we hope you will come be our guests. It truly is one of the most peaceful places on earth.

So .. the before/after photos don't JUST HAPPEN. There is A LOT of work that goes into that transformation. Here shows a very small part of what happens.

First, the lower limbs are cut with a pole saw. We would put the limbs in piles and then take loads of limbs to the burn pile with the tractor. Then we would pull the vines from the trees. Then Bret would get up in the bucket of the tractor and cut the upper limbs. I would drive him around from tree to tree. Then he would stay in the bucket and pull more vines from the trees.

Bret has been such a trooper working with me. And when I say "we" did it .. I use that term VERY loosely ... I "helped" but most of the physical work was done by my partner in this project ... This transformation would not have happened without him.

Thank you so much Bret !!

This is a series of photos from another area on the property that we cleaned up.

I wanted to open up the view looking from The Farm House on Beaver Lake to the lake. You can not see it in the photo, but down near the lake there is a huge slab of rock that we cleaned off. It is a great place to sit and take in the view of the lake.

This is a series of photos of the same area.

The fall of 2022 we hired a forestry company to come in and clean up part of the property. We wanted to have access to areas of our property that we had never seen and we wanted to open up the view of the lake. This area was so dense. The trees were surrounded by brush and full of vines that were full of thorns.

After they were done ~ there was still a lot of work to do. There were vines still hanging in the trees, there were broken limbs on the trees and the mulch on the ground was not smooth.

It still needed some love desperately. There will be another post later showing the work that we did to get to the last photo in this post.

We cut the lower limbs, then pulled vines .. then cut the higher limbs and pulled more vines .. and we took loads & loads to the burn pile.

I think it is going to be glorious by the spring of 2024. I envision beautiful green grass .. maybe a few tire swings and hammocks hanging from the trees. Another place on the property for our family, friends and guests to take walks, play or just sit and relax while enjoying the views and maybe see some wildlife that roam the property. Oh the peace that this place brings to my soul.

This sweet family was our guest in September 2023. They came to attend a family wedding at Sassafras Vineyards and Winery.

There were 4 generations (ages 4-84) here and when not at the wedding ~ they spent almost every moment outside exploring & fishing.

Darla booked the trip and she told me that her grandkids said "This really is just like heaven". She shared these photos with me and gave me permission to post on FB.

It melts my heart to see families having the time of their life here.

God has blessed us beyond measure .. I pray to always be a good steward of his land.

I have taken lots of photos of The Barn from land, but very few from Beaver Lake. In this photo you can see The Farm House on the far left, The Barn and the pasture area. The Barn kinda hides in the tree line and I love the gentle slope of the land to the shoreline.

This photo was taken July 29, 2023 and the lake is very low in my humble option. After Memorial Day the corps dumped tons of water out of the lake and then we went weeks with no rain so the lake continued to drop in level. I think it is around 1118 in this photo.

When the lake was flooded in the mid-1960's they moved The Farm House and The Barn a quarter mile to higher ground; when the lake is low the old foundations are exposed. It is fun to walk out on the point where they originally sat and explore around those areas.

I am grateful that we have the opportunity to share this place with our family, our friends and our guests. I hope you enjoy the photo and a bit of history.

These are photos from our guests that just vacated a couple days ago.

This group loved fishing off the bank .. and they caught enough fish to have a fish fry while here 🥰 .. the sound of their excitement was priceless. They were respectful, clean and wonderful guests. I hope they will come back !

We are in a 4th year of being a vacation rental and I love when our guests share photos with me. I knew we would find our niche and it seems that it is families that love the outdoors. A LOT of our guests are grandparents with their kids and grands that all meet here to hang out. It is a great place for families to gather and there is a lot of space for those to roam and play.

And the lake access .. The best place to access the lake changes based on the level of Beaver Lake but we have around 1,400 feet of shoreline for our guests to choose from ... so there is always a place to enter. We provide 2 kayaks & 4 adult life jackets ... and many of our guests bring their own kayaks, canoes, lily pads, floating saddles, boat and they will hang out in the lake all day. The Farm House on Beaver Lake also has an outdoor shower .. so there is a place to rinse off or shower once you come in from exploring or swimming.

Other guests come for various reasons ..
~ Razorback Games .. Football, Baseball, Basketball, etc
~ Concerts at the AMP
~ Mountain Bike trails in the area
~ UofA Graduations
~ UofA Family Weekends
~ Golf Tournaments
~ Book Clubs
~ Retreats
~ Weddings
~ Fishing Trips
~ Friends Get-Away
~ Bike Blues & BBQ
~ War Eagle Craft Fair
~ The Junk Ranch

A large percentage of our guests come from Kansas & Colorado .. We have guests come from near and far, and from places I would never have imagined; San Francisco, Tampa, New Orleans, Chicago, Portland, Austin, Detroit .. and one couple even came from Egypt!

This is a story ...

When we bought this property in 2013 we knew we wanted to save & restore The Farm House even though we planned to build our home across the creek.

What we did not know was that The Farm House would become a vacation rental.

We toyed with the idea of making The Barn an event venue. We looked into other venues and there was nothing like it ~ a beautiful old barn with a 180 degree view of Beaver Lake. We had past experience owning & operating an event venue, so we knew the hard work and long hours that this would take to make it successful. Our thought was that we would only work with event planners and let them work directly with the end customer and they would take care of all the details. After almost 2 years of researching and going over the pros & cons ~ we decided we did not want to go down that path.

We are very grateful that God led us to this place and we wanted to share it with others in some way ... so ... we decided to turn The FarmHouse into a vacation rental and it has been a blessing.

We try to provide the best experience possible. We stay out of our guest's space as best we can, and we also try to be there for them if they need anything or if they want to meet us. Some guests just want their privacy and others want to get to know us and ask tons of questions about the property and it's history. We love and enjoy both.

Between VRBO and Airbnb we have had over 165 stays ...
~ over 110 five star reviews
~ 1 four star review
~ 0 three star
~ 0 two star
~ 0 one star

Our last guests were one of those that wanted to meet us. It was such a pleasure to meet them ~ we talked for over an hour.

The photo is a screen shot of their review (with prior permission). I can not thank this guest enough for such a detailed and kind review. His thoughts speak to my heart and I always love to meet people that love this place like we do.

I thank God everyday for our life here and the opportunity to share it with others.
