Effective Immediately, The government of Baja California Sur has implemented a mandatory tourist tax for all international visitors to Los Cabos and surrounding areas. This represents a significant change from the previous voluntary program and requires immediate attention in your client communications.

What You Need to Know:

Tax Name: "Embrace It" Tourist Tax
The fee: $470 MXN (approximately $25 USD)
Applies to: All foreign nationals staying in Baja California Sur longer than 24 hours
Payment: Online only via official government portal

From Voluntary to Mandatory
This builds upon the voluntary EmbraceIt Fund launched in 2022, which has now transitioned to a compulsory government-administered tax. The change reflects the destination's commitment to sustainable tourism development.
