We are unfortunately selling our rental compound called Seal House in Lubec, Maine and wanted to share with you all if you know anyone interested? We need to focus on caring for my aging mother in our new build 5 doors down.
The compound includes three houses:
-1920's classic Maine cottage w/3 bedrooms/1 bath/1100 square feet with sweeping sunset views of Johnson Bay and a bouldered fireplace in the heart of the village of Lubec two blocks from the grocery store and minutes walk to restaurants and downtown. World-class hiking trails are minutes away as well as Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the easternmost point in the continental USA. Campobello Island in New Brunswick Canada is a quarter of a mile away with The Roosevelt Cottage and International Park.
There is also a luxury custom-built/designed 240-square foot tiny house with wrap-around deck as well as a 240-square foot owners office/tiny house with wrap-around deck.
We have successfully rented the luxury tiny house and the three bedroom for the last three years and have received 5 stars consistently as well as being ranked between the top 1%-5% on Airbnb. The Tiny house nightly rate has been $295. and the 3-bedroom has been $450. for the first 2 guests and $50. per night per guest up to 7 guests. We have been lucky to have had incredible guests throughout the last 3 years and many have become friends. We will deeply miss hosting and will cherish all the outstanding people we have met over the years. We hope that someone or a family can enjoy our compound in the years to come as much as we have. We are crazy about birds at and wanted to give you all a heads up on a very special and exclusive in nearby in 2023. People from all over the world every year try to get these puffin tour tickets. They only allow 12 people from the USA and 12 people from Canada to go on the Machias Seal Island puffin tour daily. The tickets go on sale this January 17th at 9am. Last year they were sold out for the season.

Located just 10 miles to the southeast of the coastal town of Cutler, Machias Seal Island is a wonder for bird lovers and adventurers alike.

It’s the largest Atlantic puffin nesting colony along the entire Maine coast.

Machias Seal Island is a disputed island (with both Canada and the United States claiming ownership), but it’s an important nesting site for not only Atlantic puffins, but also razorbills, common murres, and other seabirds.

Everyday during the nesting season, a handful of lucky visitors from ports in the U.S. and Canada make landfall on Machias Seal Island to see the birds up close.

Special bird blinds afford up-close, world-class views of colorful puffins (or sea parrots) and other nesting birds.
