Day 2! Lima and Pacific Coast.

On our first full day in South America, the East Hickman group will go out with a local angler in the picturesque fishing town of Pucusana, an outlying suburb of Lima. After our fishing adventure, we'll attend a cooking class and learn to make fresh ceviche. Sound fun? Come learn more about our 2020 travel plans. This is such a great opportunity for a teen at EHHS OR EHMS!

For those concerned about your children going off to a foreign country without you, your concerns are valid. Our Lyles Leprechauns traveled to Ireland with groups who were less than responsible, but the Hickman County boys were exemplary. They made me proud. As we prepare for our 2020 Peru expedition, I invite parents to make this a family vacation of epic proportion. Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, and the Heights of Peru can be yours and your child's introduction to South America. Planning early can make this "Bucket List" item obtainable. The kids and adults both fell in love with Ireland. We close this adventure tomorrow, but we ask you to spread the word that kids in Hickman County are going places. They are learning about the world and themselves. Next up: Perú 2020

We started Tuesday in Lisdoonvarna, a quaint springs town known for its month long matchmaking festival. A wonderful Irish music & dance show in the Matchmaker Bar welcomed us. From there, we went to the Cliffs of Moher where cows graze atop 600 ft. cliffs which drop straight down into the ocean. Pictures cannot describe how breathtaking this was nor how we all felt to see the rocky cliffs being attacked by the untamed Atlantic as hundreds of seagulls cheered in the great abyss below us. We hated to leave, but Bunratty Castle awaited. There we stood on the original 15th century floors and saw tapestries and prehistoric antlers hanging in the great room. A long, but beautiful drive through Limerick and Killarney brought us to our resting place for the next two days, the summer spa town of Caherdaniel on the shores of the central peninsula of the Ring of Kerry. Our view here is heavenly.

A few fleeting images from today's trip from Dublin to the west coast. Tomorrow. The Wild Atlantic Way and the Cliffs of Moher! As you see, a terrible drought has robbed some of the lush greenery from us, but it's still so cool! Come join us next time.
