At Dearington Elementary School for Innovation - LCS Art is taught in a trailer without plumbing, severely limiting the artistic media options for teacher Ms. Karen Camden. She was awarded a Classroom Innovation Grant to get camping sinks for her classroom. She's also using this as an opportunity to instruct her students in the importance of water and plumbing in everyday life and even incorporated Lynchburg Water Resources' Imagine a Day Without Water K-12 Art Contest into her lesson plan.
This grant is sponsored by generous donations from The Al Stroobants Foundation, Framatome, and Hanwha Azdel. Our extend our gratitude to these community partners supporting our Lynchburg City Schools.
Mr. Benjamin Hill wants to inspire his students to work together focusing on a common goal, improving their listening skills, and building their confidence. Playing music together fosters these important skills, so Mr. Hill is "Drumming Up Champions" at Robert S. Payne Elementary School with the support of a Classroom Innovation Grant.
This, and 30 other Classroom Innovation Grants, are sponsored by local businesses and individuals through the Lynchburg City Schools Education Foundation, Inc. We are grateful to Genworth Foundation for their generosity sponsoring this and other opportunities for our Lynchburg City Schools students.
