With nearly 1,500 museums in New York State, it would take several months, more likely years, to see them all. Can I tell you, I’m up for the job? I love learning about culture, people, and history; museums are some of the best places to gain insight into our fascinating past. Most of my favorite ...

Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary - Community Survey Request

survey: https://dlrgroup.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6G81hmEIXNu0Hu6

The DLR Group is working with NOAA ONMS and New York State, co-managers of the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary, to create the sanctuary's Programming, Partnerships, and Facilities Plan. As part of the plan, they are surveying the community to better understand all the ways people experience Lake Ontario and the new Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary. The survey will help them recommend new programs, events and places in partnership with existing organizations across the four-county region. The plan will show how the sanctuary could support what people already love about Lake Ontario and suggest new opportunities to make it easier for everyone to visit the lake, learn about its rich cultural and local history, and enjoy the area.

We were asked to help share the survey link with anyone who lives, works, or enjoys the shores and waters of Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary. They want to hear from residents, community organizations, local governments, business owners, and others who are interested in the future and success of the sanctuary. Follow the link to take the survey: https://dlrgroup.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6G81hmEIXNu0Hu6

90,000 chinook salmon are now swimming in Lake Ontario. The fingerlings have been in net pens at Krenzer Marine since April 10. It was decided NYS Department of Environmental Conservation that it was time to release them into their new home.

Charter captains met at the docks where the net pens were held and with a stripped-down pontoon boat, towed the pens to the Dock Daddy barge where they were secured with two pens on each side of the barge. Barge owner Ryan Cowley, along with others in the group donated their time to this important process for the Lake Ontario fishery.
They slowly towed the pens through the channel and released the salmon out in Lake Ontario.
