First day of vacation confession:

The first day is kind of the best and also the worst in my family. No matter how much I prepare ahead of time, there’s a certain amount of stress and chaos getting out the door.

Somehow we’re all in the car ready to go waiting on one person 🚽 Why?!?

Drive down the road and no one can remember if we shut the garage, so we turn back.

By the time we arrive at our destination everyone is some combination of hungry, thirsty, tired, and overexcited. My kids are great travelers EXCEPT while we are checking in. At least one of them will be falling apart or trying to ask me the same question over and over while I speak to the hotel staff at the desk.

Then, we get to the room and this is where I have a hard time. I want to get everything organized and put away immediately while my kids bounce off the walls with excitement and harass me for snacks.

Despite all that, stepping into the lobby and knowing that we have made it and are ready to enjoy the vacation is just the BEST. I love that feeling of knowing you have the whole week ahead of you to enjoy.

Can you relate at all?

We arrived home a couple days ago and I’m already counting down til the next trip. Let’s get a vacation countdown going for you too!

We’ve been on vacation the past week, can I just say it’s a rude transition to have to cook for my family again. What do you mean there’s no breakfast buffet?

Should I leave the kids with family for an hour next trip to try GEO-82?

This we are cooling off inside EPCOT's GEO-82 lounge (adults-only) located just behind Spaceship Earth. Aside from really cold air conditioning to escape the summer heat; GEO-82 offers a fabulous lineup of cocktails, mocktails and snacks. Our favorite? The charcuterie board. The perfect amount of delectable bites to hold you over so you still have room to eat your way around the World Showcase later!
